Player signing for less, no notification

I had a free agent sign with another team for significantly less than I offered him and never got an email asking to boost my offer or even that he had taken another one. Is this a big or a built in pet of the game? I’m ok if he chose the other team because they were better contenders or he liked the women they sent to his room on his “recruiting” trip. I guess I’d just like some kind of communication that he wasn’t signing with me

It might be a bug, it might be not, but is this possible in RL baseball? It very much is. Players sign for not moneyrelated reasons. Just assume that happened and move on, even if it wasn't planned, it very much would have its place as a feature.

The odd thing isn't that he signed for less money; it's that he didn't get a message when the player signed with another team. Usually you get a message when a player you offered a contract to signs elsewhere. Are you sure you hit "submit" on the contract offer? I have made that mistake more times than I'd like to admit.

Hmm. That’s a good question and something I hadn’t thought of. I assumed I did and believed I got a message saying he was considering it but maybe not. I’m with you though. I’m perfectly ok if he chose something other than money. You just always get a notification and I did not. I’ll pay more attention going forward. Thanks for the response

I'm not sure I ever got a message if a player signed for less money, though. My messages are usually "Colorado offered me X" or "You need to match this offer" or whatever the verbiage they use is.

If it's not about money, there is nothing to match so the message would be something like "I'm signing with another team", which is also accomplished by...the player signing with another team. So I sort of get why you might not have received a message.

In general, I think the free agent contract communication is a little wonky at times. I posted previously about offering a player a minor league contract and having him come back, say that the previous offer wasn't acceptable and he was demanding a minor league contract.

Also, I noticed yesterday that on the Free Agent screen, some players will be listed as "Very Easy" for signability, but then when I go to offer a contract I get a "I have no desire to play for your organization" message.

When you make an offer to a player and he ends up signing elsewhere, you do get an email saying that the player signed with "Team X". I have seen guys pass up a minor league deal to sign with an Indy Team, and I have also seen a guy take less money from another team because he was the clear cut starter at that position and with me he would have been a backup or part of a platoon (meaning I had a guy with the same or better ratings at his position).

Not only are you (The GM) not being notified...I assume there aren’t any press/media stories either?
