Newbie: GM, Goals, and Hiring/Firing Questions

I'm brand new to this game with 21, and I'm hooked. I can't turn it off. I've started a few saves both fictional and regular and I have yet to have any real success. I understand that is common so I'm not complaining. I have three main questions that I can't seem to find answers to yet.


1. I am currently playing as GM only, but I can play games and control subs and everything? I thought the manager would have all the control over that stuff since that's how I set it up.


2. Are owner goals completely random or based on my personnel? I had a terrific draft recently and my goals were to play "around" 500 ball. On the other hand, the save I'm playing now had a terrible draft and I was supposed to be in the playoffs year 1 and WS year 4.


3. If I am both GM and manager, can I fire myself and hire another manager? I sure would love to do that since my awesome team in that save is underachieving big time.

You've already played that much?

Check your settings.
Not sure if it's team settings or your manager settings.
Certain tasks, like who controls rosters, can be delegated to yourself or your staff
Also, when you start a game, there's a strategy page where you can, again, delegate control of certain aspects to yourself or the AI.

3. If I am both GM and manager, can I fire myself and hire another manager? I sure would love to do that since my awesome team in that save is underachieving big time.

You can't fire yourself as manager and remain GM.
You can resign as both, and hope to get hired on another team

You can also change the settings to GM only and hire a manager.

At this point, I start over if I hate my team. I am in season 2 of my current save and we suck out loud. I'm only GM and I just fired the pitching coach. Poor 'ol David Ross is next if we don't start moving toward 500.


Also, I wanted to check out different scenarios like fictional teams, real players with and w/out fantasy drafts etc. When I get to know the game and most of the options and controls, I'll settle down and play it out with one team/save.
