Fictional League starting
What is the number of teams you recommend starting with? How many years do you usually sim? 25-30?

Depends on your goals for the league.
If you want to be familiar with the players, possibly playing out games batter by batter, you may want a smaller league. But, certainly not a must. If you like a slow pace and want to immerse that is a consideration. You don't need to sim seasons ahead of time. It can be exciting to watch the league unfold without any prior notion of how the players might perform. If you are into big sims so you can get to the stats, as opposed to managing game by game, that might impact your decision Ultimately, there is no perfect size, pace, history to launch. Observe what others have done, or, just decide for yourself what might be the most fun. The beauty of the OOTP experience is that if you don't like what you have, click, click, click, and you have a new opportunity. Good luck.

I agree with Steve - there is no such thing as "right" or "wrong", you'll have to find out what suits you best.
As far as simming ahead - there are different opinions: A lot of guys like to sim ahead 30 or more years to create some history and get rid off the original players, I use to start my leagues on Day One and enjoy watching the league unfold and develop. But that's the beauty of this game - you can do whatever you personally like … and if you haven't played fictional before you most likely will need a few tries to find out what you prefer.
