OOTP 20 and now 21 Constant Bugs/Glitches
Hello, I'm pretty sure there must be a set of individual bugs and glitches for just me, however, I have not had any problem with any other game on my laptop. Around January, my OOTP 20 was no longer able to start up for reasons I have no idea. I haven't downloaded any sort of mods or anything, just the default game. Naturally, I tried every type of normal fix for these types of issues such as reinstalling the game and similar things like that, but they had no effect. I tried weekly to start up the game and it never would so eventually I just ignored it and waited for OOTP 21 to come out. I purchase OOTP 21 yesterday and the game started up very weird. No logos are displayed when entering a franchise mode. Similarly to what I tried in OOTP 20, I tried all the "normal" fixes and nothing was working, so I tried to just ignore the fact that there were no logos and play the game. The problem is escalating, however. I have had to restart my initial franchise five times now because the game consistently crashes on the second day of continuing. I have done everything I could think of to fix all of these issues, but to no prevail. If anyone has any idea what I could do to fix this, please let me know.
Thanks, Chris Error Message every time I try to start up OOTP 21: Could not write to the following folder: C:\Users\18452\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 21 (SMYUSERDATA) Please re-install OOTP. If that doesn't help, start OOTP as user with admin permissions, or install the game to a custom folder. Visit our tech support site for more information. By the way, thats just one of many errors that has popped up on OOTP 21 so far. I have honestly had around 50-75 different errors in the less than 24 hours owning the game that occur every time I try to do anything or create anything or click anything in the game so far.

It looks like the main problem there is with writing files when you try a game. The main 2 reasons that might be the case would be that your machine is out of disk space, or that your user account does not have permissions set up up properly on the folder you're using.
If it's a disk issue, I'd suggest looking at ways to clear up disk space. Deleting old games, going through the regular windows disk manager stuff, or googling for other disk management tips are your best bet. If your machine does not have disk issues, then you need to make sure that the program has access to the data folder you listed above, and that your permissions are set properly. You may need to set up the game to run as an admin or change permissions on the OOTP data folder. If none of that works, or if you are having issues with these steps, it might be worth it to file a support ticket (https://support.ootpdevelopments.com/portal/home), where the support team can potentially provide other tips too that they have learned from others who have had similar issues. |
