player development problems

I am really struggling from having my players not drop contact, power and control all season long. I hired a decent coach and have a big budget for player development, I play players a lot.

for instance. in my second season of challenge mode, I have a 28 year old edgar rentaria have a 92 contact starting the season. he has a spectacular year and wins the mvp.. but over the season and offseason his contact has dropped all the way to 60.

are you kidding me. how is it possible for my mvp to fall apart? most of my players are taking big dives relative to where I get them and I can't figure out why. plz help!!!! he is in his prime age, I have only captains and leaders.

It happens. On the other hand, I've had players I've given up on turn around and have career years. Bad years is part of the game and there are loads of one year wonder all stars who are perpetual free agents 3 years later.

One thing I've noticed about this game, your farm system is extremely important. I actually think it's more important than it is in real life but if you focus on your drafts and minor leaguers, you're putting yourself in a great spot.
