Help Please

Hello OOTP Fans:

I am brand new to OOTP. I really want to enjoy this game, I realize it is very deep and most of what I've seen in terms of what the game has to offer, is incredible.

I am however, getting stuck and so I'm reaching out for some help.

I cannot wrap my head right now around how ridiculous the game play is when I'm managing the games instead of simulating them.

I'm into May now, and my team's ERA is around 8 runs per game. The amount of times 2 out base hits by guys who have no business getting hits is uncanny. I mean, I know it happens once in a while, but when i'm throwing my ace and lose 11 to 4 and have Jeff Bandy going 4 for 4 with a HR, absolutely boils my blood.

The amount of Triples down the left field line is outrageous.

The ratio between 2 out strikeouts with runners on that I have vs the amount of 2 out clutch hits the AI has, astronomical.

If I have a guy making a spot start from AAA, I would expect that, even if they aren't that great, they should be able to go through an inning without a walk or a hit, let alone a run or multiple runs scored - does not seem to be the case.

The team I'm playing or their statistics seem to matter very little. I just continue to get pounded every single day...it's absolutely not what I was expecting from a game that prides itself on realism.

Can someone please give me some perspective here...

Any conversation is great,

thanks,

D

I don't have any answers for you, but I would suggest you reply with details on how your league is set up, and then I'm sure some long-time players will have some input for you.

I will gladly look up specifics if someone is able to ask the key questions.

I'm not really sure what would be the most relatable league set up options that make the most sense here.

Thanks for the response.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone else.

Thanks,

D
