Best Team Collections

In my mind, its the Astros bar none. Bagwell is a beast. In my stone league, he's on the way to winning the triple crown with .355/40/151 It was the first collection I actually bought players from the AH to finish as I figured it was worth it. The Indians with 88 Al Rosen is damn good too.

I've actually finished 9 team collections. a few I completed organically by just opening packs. Any other ones anyone likes without buying PPs with my credit card?

Galarraga and Joyner make a nice platoon at first base for a pair of relatively easy to complete missions (although Bagwell makes it obsolete). Of the pitchers, at least on the Gold tourney level Walters is the best if you can manage that mission, but Guzman and Caldwell are solid starters too. Bit tougher but that 91 OVR Wainwright you can get from the Cardinals mission is really solid.

For the harder ones, Cano and Snider are hard to beat; Snider's the only CF in the single team missions and Cano is way better than Kent and Kinsler.

Frankly all the right and left fielders are relatively interchangeable so that's more of a see where you get lucky with live cards in packs scenario.

Yeah, I finished the Reds organically and had to buy two Blue jays for Walters and Guzman. Walters is great. Guzman has already been banished to the AH.

Altogether I finished 9 collections.
  • Reds (Walters 89)
  • Orioles (Baines 80)
  • Blue Jays (Guzman 87)
  • Indians (Rosen 87) I knew him personally so that was the one I went after the most
  • Astros (Bagwell 97) BEAST
  • Giants (Kent 84)
  • Royals (Saberhagen 80)
  • Tigers (Fielder 80

I also quickly and organically landed the the 10 out of 12 "Made for DH-IF" for 1 pack. This is the first year that I'm chasing collections. And only with the Thunder. The Fish and the Bears will eventually become something else.

Not bad. Baines is fine. Kent is alright I guess. Saberhagen kinda sucks and Fielder is only good in a platoon. Rosen is great as long as you don't care too much about defense.

Another vote for Houston. Not only do you get Bagwell, but the Astros are the most difficult part of the Ichiro! collection for the AL West.

A couple other good and fairly cheap ones are the a’s and diamondbacks. Only need silver and below for both and Plank and Randy are top notch starters. Just need to be patient with the Bronze diamondbacks as they are rare and priced way higher than they should be: The Diamondbacks were the last team collection I finished because of this.

I'm working on the Houston one, need 3 more to complete. I'm not going to bid 1600 on a 300 card though, so I will wait and open packs. I don't know if I'll do any others, I hate having locked cards in my inventory!

I finished the Houston mission. One suggestion, the reward should be Shoeless Joe Jackson instead.

Very happy with Rosen from Cleveland mission in Gold Tourneys. Nice to see the Live rewards have improved. A lot to do with tourneys and don't need every single card on the roster or that Houston mission might impossible for some.

*EXTREME Lebowski You think the carpet pissers did this VOICE*

He thinks the Astros took money to throw the Series last year?

Well, not exactly. Just that they are cheaters. Maybe turn all their cards black? Or have a little buzzer sound when you open one up?

I thought everyone knew this but since we're on the subject:

Shoeless Joe Jackson 1919 World Series that got him banned .375/.394/.563 slash line.

Better than his regular season line. Zero errors and his 12 hits were a World Series record until Bobby Richardson got 13 hits in the 1964 WS.

This^.

I'm not sure the portrayal in the movie Eight Men Out is accurate, but in the film, he can't read, signs the deal with an X and only under duress.

That’s true, that’s why I want him as a reward. A good card, but also a connection to a cheating scandal.

There is good reason to believe Joe was banned because he was the guy on the team every fan knew by name, so he made for a good scapegoat. If they ban the guy who actually took money and no one knows the guys name, everything would say oh, they just threw some no-name under the bus for PR...

Guzman is a pretty good pen arm in the lower levels.

There's a pretty clear tier in the corner outfielder (not including Ichiro). Kiner, Williams, Klein are a clear step above the others and perform very well (and I'd say Williams is in the top five best bats in the set after Bagwell, Yaz, Yogi, and Ichiro).
