Removing one level of Minor Leagues

OOTP Experts...what is the best way to go about removing one level of the Minors? For example, making A Ball a single class.

If one were to simply delete the league, those players all become FAs...not ideal. Do you have to manually adjust the team rosters for all teams, dumping their worst players into the one league?
Is there a better way to go about it?

Simple. Wait until off-season. Then go into each team and move those players to you next lowest level's team. You might have to temporarily remove any roster restrictions you have on that league. When your done delete the league you want. Put back any roster restictions you had on the new level. Then go to league settings and run auto manager on all teams. The AI will trim down your new level and relase the ones that don't make the cut.

What I've done in the past is go through each team and move any player with a potential rating of 2 full stars (yes I use stars) up to the next level you intend to keep. It's not a terribly long process because you can multi select then drag and drop.

After that, delete the minor league in question and all of the remaining players will become free agents.

2 things to keep in mind here:

You'll want to either make your lowest class league have either no, or a large roster limit, at least for a while so that the AI can do it's thing. It's a way old OOTP thing but I still do not limit the roster size of my lowest level. It may no longer be necessary to aid the AI this way, but it's something to consider.

Also, depending upon the size of your league, you'll likely have a lot more free agents, most of them young. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it's a good idea to keep this in mind when you're setting the number of amateur draft rounds. You'll also want to have the setting to delete players who never make the majors checked.

Hope this helps.

Great info. Thanks for the replies. Will definitely help as I plan into 2021 when I aim to make A Ball all one level...something akin to what MLB plans to do irl.
