Tournament Pitching Q v2

So why would the game go to my long reliever in the pen instead of my #4 scheduled starter?

Daniel Norris was scheduled to go for game 5, I had four man rotation selected, and the box score shows that my long reliever, Nestor Cortes started the game.

It wound up being a bullpen game, which I lost obvs, but what setting did I miss which caused this to happen?

This happened a second time just now. I think there could be a bug causing the game to go to the bullpen when the 5th starter spot is empty, despite four man rotation being selected.

Instead of going back to my #1 starter after the #4, it started my long reliever again for game 5. The #1 is scheduled to start for game 6 so hopefully that happens.

OK so there is definitely something I am not understanding about this four man rotation thing.

This time, after the fourth starter went, the next game skipped the #1 starter and the #2 starter went.

I have strict four man rotation selected.

Anyone have an explanation?

Thanks!

There are no days off in tournaments. I have a suspicion that the AI is trying to pitch the best choice, perhaps least tired. In your second example, check to see if your #2 got blown out and he was probably less tired than #1 at gametime.

That may be. Here's what happened:

Game 1: Eric Show goes 7.1
Game 2: Moret goes 0.1
Game 3: Blair goes 3.2 IP
Game 4: Norris goes 6
Game 5: Moret goes 4.1
At this point I move Show to the #2 position
Game 6: Show goes 2.2 and gives up 10 first inning runs
Game 7: Game selects Nestor Cortes (long reliever, gives up 3 in the first). Dennis Blair, the scheduled starter, is second out of the pen and pitches 2.2

Things I have learned:

a) Do not move the starters around in the rotation order
b) Do not change strategy to allow starters in relief before game 7.

I’ve used 7 day lineups for tournaments for similar reasons - but if my starter is already tired they will only go a short while.

That sounds promising. How do you do that? I only see up to 6 man rotation under pitching...
