Monday, June 1, 1952 GATORS SINGING THE BLUES IN SISL Top to bottom the South Island Second League is evenly balanced... only 3 games separate first place from last place... the last place Bayou Bleu Blues really hit a high note Sunday afternoon by whipping the best team in the league, first place Guedon... in a mild surprise the Blues topped the Gators 5-3... in other action St. Dominic outscored the Chitamaca Moccasins 10-9 and took over the runner-up spot in the standings... and Delacroix Cubs move up to third place with a 4-3 victory over the Meraux Tigers. MY LIFE IN 1952
EC's Just Havin' Fun in '52, Too Hi, Hey, Hello... and how do you do, all you little darlin's and you buckaroos, too... this is Danderoo back in the saddle on WYNK, deep in the heart of Dixie in Ba-TON Rouge, Looziana, playing the greatest hits of your life. The Wild Side of Life is still going strong for Hank Thompson and his Brazos Valley Boys... it's still on top of the country charts. Blue Tango by Leroy Anderson still is number one on the pop charts. I played both of them for you several weeks ago... so I thought I would just pick two of the other hits of the day and play 'em for you. The Hillbilly Shakespeare, Hank Williams, is all over the radio with a silly little ditty, "Setting the Woods on Fire"... Hank is certainly burning up the charts, too... you can bless your pretty little ears with it right cheer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s1YZpHi7Vo And for you fancy music lovers, here is a very pretty young lady with one of the best voices you have ever heard... she's right up there with the great Patsy Cline... here's the wonderful Jo Stafford and her big hit that headed for number one, "You Belong to Me". https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...c51c9fbc593fb9 |

Gee Willikers, you've done it again!
New record for views for the North Island and South Island Leagues. 276 views today... topping the old mark of 246. Must have something to do with no baseball season... and self-isolation. The Islandian Pro Alliance had 776 views today, breaking the old mark of 742. Thanks to all of you. I don't do this for views... I do it for enjoyment... but it's still nice to get those numbers. Monday, June 9, 1952 3-GAME LEAD FOR JOLIET IN NIRL FIRST HO!... HO!... HO! Happy times are here again for the jolly Green Giants of Joliet... they have a 3-game lead going into the last five games of the North Island Recreational League First Division season... Joliet knocked off the Kofa Kings 5-2 yesterday afternoon... New Yerby moved up to the runner-up spot in the standings by drubbing the Jackson Jackalopes 12-5... and Dutton got the best of Avalon 6-5 in a close one. |

Monday, June 9, 1952 4 TEAMS ON TOP OF NIRL SECOND Whew!... what a race in the North Island Recreational League Second Division!.. four teams are deadlocked with the same identical record... Union Heights, Stockdale, Theodore and Wafford are all in first place with 9-6 marks. And here's how all of this chaos was caused: the Wafford Eagles whipped Union Heights 3-1... then Theodore topped West Chester 4-1... and finally Stockdale scorched Kinston 13-4. |

Monday, June 9, 1952 PELS UP 2 GAMES OVER LIONS IN SI SECOND LEAGUE The Labadieville Pelicans are still going strong in the South Island Second League... the Pels posted their 7th straight victory by nicking Mystic 5-4 this past weekend... Opelousas is on a good run, too, with three wins in a row... the Lions defeated Des Allemands 8-5, but still trail Labadieville by 2 games... and finally, some good news out of Bar Harbor, where the Acadians snapped a 9-game losing streak by edging out the Claiborne Cardinals 6-5. |
