Creating a fictional league
Hi all, does any fictional player have some tips for creating a fictional game with fictional players please?
I have only previously played the standard MLB games in the last version and for this release want to set up my own fictional league and have a few questions, i have already decided to keep the same format as current MLB, with 30 teams, and same about of rookie leagues etc and have changed names. Ideally i am looking at roughly following historical stats through the different eras but not following the historical rule changes, so i will begin with the current rules, drafts, finances and stadiums, my questions are below: 1. Would you recommend starting earlier than intended and dimming through 10-20 years, and if so would it then be best to wipe the history and start fresh from the year i want to (still undecided what year to begin from)? 2. With regards to stats, if i started the game at a set year would the player stats evolve naturally from year to year, or would i need to auto calc regularly? and would the stats follow the historical stats or could i set it up to just evolve not following historical ones? 3. If simming through a number of years do teams and the league also evolve, ie: expansion teams open, teams move locations and in this years version is there any evolution in team stadiums or will i need to do all of this manually if i want to make changes? Many thanks |

I don't have a ton of experience with the fictional leagues, I have done just a couple but also in the process of setting up a more in-depth world myself.
1. I have tried both, it really depends on what you prefer. I am currently starting in 1900 and going to sim until at least 1950, just to get some history, records, etc. on file. All fictional players and teams, so I will name my "Cy Young" award to another pitcher, possibly name the MVP after a hitter as well. 2. This is my biggest question still...any help on this one I would greatly appreciate as well. 3. These are all options you can turn off if you don't want them to happen while you are simming multiple years. I turn off everything except for more/less pitching and more/less hitting. I spent way too long compiling team cities, names, logos and hats for somebody to relocate or add another team on me.
