Season 40 (2058) - Discussion Thread

19 Rebs dropped in four games, 20 Rebs dropped in the wild card... Coons and Accountants both go to Game 5 after diddling away leads in the LDS, so I might well be all gone in 20 minutes.

The Perfect Rollie Fingers already ****ed up his very first outing, blowing the lead in and Game 1 overall.

Frustration, cubed.

Frogs escape by the slime of their chiny chiny chins, taking G5 5-3 and knocking out Fargo. A Fargo team, I might add, that completed all of the Giants missions just in time to drop RHPs 100 Gaylord Perry (who got crushed in his 2 outings) and 100 Mickey Welch (5 IP 3 ER, so meh) into the rotation just for me. It was almost enough to claim another of the Old Timer 5. But, not quite...

Frogs vs Bold North is now the matchup that AC spectators have wanted to see all along. The Bold North will have the home field and went 4-3 in the regular season. The Bold North took 3/4 at home and the Frogs took 2/3 at home.

Here's to hoping that a newly minted 100 Rube Waddell (one of the several mission chains completed this week) for the Frogs can help tilt the scales.

We await the winner of Tassie vs Jackson to decide Evergreen Forest's foe in the NC Sub-League Series. Will another Old Timer 5 team make it? Or will there be just 2 remaining?

Yeah, that little WPA graph divot near the end of the game was Fargo getting the first 2 men on base (91 Rizzuto and 99 Appling) against my 100 Hoffman. And then Hoffman stranded them both by striking out 100 Cash, and inducing flyouts by both 100 Mantle and 100 Yaz (note the results by batter handedness...)

Pretty epic DS for Tassie as they crawl out of a 2-0 hole using 3 straight one-run victories.

Their prize? An Evergreen Forest team that won the DIVISION OF DOOM.


EDIT: Also noticed that the Sub-League round in this OL/P466 is 3/4 "Old Timer 5" teams, which is the maximum it could've been based on our divisional alignments. If you count Minnesota Bold North as non-OL (no way they are F2P), then it was a shutout of OL teams in the OL league. I set my placement setting back to random because I feel a little bit guilty that our pod of mini-whale/battle-hardened teams took over the league this week.

Critters make it to the LCS when Big Walt grinds down Phil Niekro in Game 5, while the Accountants lose a tight 13-0 blowout. Bob Gibson takes the loss, but ten runs are actually on Dayley, Ruffing, and Messersmith in just two innings...

HaHa good time to check in. Might have been a tad nervous an hour or so ago. Sometimes being oblivious is a good thing.

Ooof, after beating my brothers team 14-5 in the regular season, he wins when it counts, smashing us 3-1 in the playoffs. Hopefully he goes all the way and puts at least some glory on the family name

It was supposed to be the Doom division teams beating up on each other, as I watched eating popcorn with my well rested squad, awaiting the eventual winner...sigh

Thirtynine at bats in the Division series for four hits. Against right handed pitching, can't blame the lefty cheese for that. So Bizarre.

Belfast down 2-0 abasing Chicago... I just reset everything and asked computer to set lineups and staff.

Charmed... The Raccoons got lucky and won the series vs the Senators, 3-1. In game 1, Suzuki (of all people) won it with a grand slam HR in the 5th (we won 4-3). We then got blasted in game 2, 13-6. After that we managed to knock out Walter Johnson early and held on for a 6-5 win. Finally, we won 6-5 again, but this time it took a comeback to do it. Down 5-1, we got 3 in the 8th and then 1 more in the 9th to force extras. An Appling single in the 11th was the deciding run. Boggs got the series MVP even though his only RBIs (3) all came on 1 AB in the final game, a 3-R HR off of Brecheen.

So now we await the winner between Tassie and Jackson who are tied up 2-2. We're hoping for a showdown with Tassie, though I still think Jackson will be the easier opponent.

Congrats Old Timer, thought we may squeak it out after winning a game at your place. Y'all keep updating throughout the day pls, I've been out since game 2 in DS and will be away the remainder of the day.

The Frogs and Bold North have been about as evenly matched as possible thru 2 Sub-League Series games.

The Frogs took game one 5-4 in 12 innings. Minnesota returned the favor in game two with a 7-6 win in 12 innings.

At least the Frogs have taken the home field away? Let's hope it matters.

Just wait and see, one of theses days, Cy will hit the jackpot, a nice shiny Triple Crown.

The offense sure has come alive vs Tassie. Odd, considering their pitching is very strong. We won the 1st game, 9-3 in a Schilling vs Schilling matchup.

In game 2, we clubbed Ed Walsh and company and won 9-4. Poor Ed... he never knew what hit him (hint: it was a bunch of Raccoons).

In game 3, we got to Lefty Grove early and won 11-6.

So we only need 1 more to go to the WS. Will Tassie stage another comeback?

It looks like the Frogs will be the next of the Old Timer 5 to drop out. The Minnesota Bold North has just been too bold, or maybe too far North, for the Frogs to handle.

Whereas we were hoping for home cooking, the Frogs have been almost shutout in back to back games to push them to the brink...

You know, I don't think we've ever played your team. Did we play each other during that one season before when we were in the same league together? I was hoping for a WS showdown between the Raccoons and Fighting Frogs.

The Raccoons won the 4th game against Tassie 6-2. We were only 4-3 vs Tassie in the regular season and they had gotten hot there at the end so I really didn't expect things to go this way.

So we await the Frogs vs Bold North winner. Go Frogs!!
