The game will not load at all

I am on a MAC macOS Catalina I installed the patch today. I installed the right one. I tried to open the game after and it will not even open.

You can bypass this by clicking on the app in a Finder window while holding Control, & then selecting Open.

I was able to bypass it with the advice Ruswic provided. But .... will I have to do this every time now??

You won't have to do it every time you open the game, but you will have to the first time whenever a new update comes out.
