I completed the White Sox collection, starting from scratch, for a net investment of 157K. I kept the Walsh, SE Appling, and a 97 Seaver that I pulled from one of the diamond packs. I sold the remaining reward cards and pack contents, including a Live J.Turner from the other diamond pack and a Live Morton from the standard pack. The collection took about ten days to complete, but I spent four of those looking for the last card.

I spent more than 10K for five cards: Lyons (57K ouch), 93 Faber (14K), 88 Faber (12K), Peters (17K), and 91 Minoso (14K). The extreme premium that I paid for Lyons could be called extortion, but it is really my penalty for being impatient. I could have continued to wait for a better deal, but I wanted Walsh and Appling for next week. The last 7 average for the three cards that I kept is 474K (Walsh 350K, Appling 84K, Seaver 40K), so I am really happy with the results (a 66% discount).

The (97) Seaver is solid in Perfect, but I think you'll have better stuff on hand already, no?

I burned all my rainy day fund on seven packs after completing the Senators/Twins today, so I will not contribute something worthwhile here next week.

I can't believe you completed the White Sox in 10 days, I've been trying for probably a month or more! I have never seen the required Diamonds for the Appling mission on the market. Except likely the same Ted Lyons that you bought and I lost the bid on.

Also some other missions that I'm waiting on Diamonds for. They just never show up. Likely the best strategy is to pick them up in the first couple days of mission release when the market is flooded.

Probably the same Lyons, yes. I got the diamond Faber on Thursday night. It had only been up for a few minutes... just got lucky.

Yes, but I am hanging on to him until the Mets missions are released.

If you don't already have them, then I agree that your best bet might be to get one where the sellers/speculators are attempting to undercut each other on the first day(s) of the mission. Once that initial supply is exhausted, they'll never be on the market, and they'll be overpriced when they are. And the better the reward is, the more in demand they will be, making them that much more valuable and that much harder to find.

It all depends. Sometimes they go up, sometimes they go down.

I keep several custom searches that I cycle through. Indians and Athletics diamonds that a few weeks ago you could only find every so often for 35K now have multiple copies for half that.

But the Braves diamond Baker/Aaron is rarer than ever

Just pulled 80 Pesky and 86 Kaline, both of whom are good for a component of their respective team missions. However, I've barely scratched the surface on either of those missions. Should I sell the cards (judging from a quick look at the AH I'd make maybe 20k off the two) or use them to bolster my bench? Alternatively, should either of them start over the current incumbents (91 Tejada at SS or 96 Judge in RF)?

Probably shouldn't tell you what I just paid for Braxton, then...

Well, we've advanced to within one card of 100 The Wizard of Oz. That's the good news. The bad news is the remaining card I need is one of those that savvy market hounds seem to have selected as THE BOTTLENECK for the 10-pack of Cardinals missions. I'll be goddamned if I'm paying north of 100K for any card I'm not going to use. I feel like the speculators have miscalculated on this one, but we shall see--I haven't seen anything sell for 100K+ but I haven't been watching too carefully either. I did notice, however, that the holder of the 97 Bob Gibson started at 150/200K earlier today and has worked down to 120/140K with no luck yet. So tragic! Keep coming down buddy.

But, seeing that it'll probably be a while until that happens or until a less savvy seller puts something up for closer to fair value, I think I'm gonna go open some packs instead.

Ma-maybe not. And the good thing is I had to lock mine for no greater good.

Well, except Peakhan Santana.

Al Hrabosky and 97 Gibson have both sold at 70k plus. Know a couple people who have confirmed it on discord. Definitely a bottleneck similar to a couple other collection bottlenecks. Makes it tough.

Somebody put one up this morning with an 11K BIN. Don't know who the seller was, but I damn sure know who the buyer was.

I could see 70K. Heck I might even be tempted at that price. But, I'm more talking about the stubborn "Imma get 150K for this card" guy. Hrabosky just went up again for basically 150K. I just hope there isn't much of a market at that price.

EDIT: I just keep adding 'em all to my watchlist hoping to invariably see "card not sold" at some point.

Just opened 4 Diamond Packs from various missions across my teams. Got:

LIVE Trevor Story
LIVE Joey Gallo
LIVE Giancarlo Stanton
LIVE Giancarlo Stanton

What a haul.

Hrabosky just moved within seconds at 120k, so I'd say there's certainly some demand there.

Yeah, I just saw it hanging around at 140K or so and nobody was biting. Both that and the 97 Gibson just languished all day yesterday. Maybe someone (you?) re-listed it lower and it sold. Great. Congrats. Let's get the PP-burning-a-hole-thru-pocket type of demand out of the system so the rest of us can start snagging some copies at more reasonable prices.

I'd have definitely kept it there at 150k if not for the Gibson setting the floor at 100k. That's what forced me to drop things a bit. Bought it at 55k about three hours ago, so I'm plenty pleased with that turnaround.

Nice. I guess I haven't been checking in often enough. I would've most certainly plucked it for 55K if I had refreshed at the right time.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the 100/200 Gibson that went up. Appears that the market isn't having any 150K sales, but ~100K seems negotiable. Might need to wait a little bit before the big spenders clear out of the market so the price can come down.

Yeah. This feels like Smoltz to me where it'll take a little time before it starts falling. Ozzie hasn't even been out a week yet. The difference I suppose is that more of the high-rollers had probably stocked up on relevant diamonds here than with Smoltz. Time will tell.
