Absolute noob - Custom league setup

Hello everybody,
Stockholm, Sweden calling in. 1st post here and really excited to play the game.

I would appreciate any input you could give me on how to set up my custom league to mimic what I'm looking for as I'm brand new to FHM.

I would like to replicate the Mid-80's NHL, around 20-26 custom teams with custom players. Lots of goals, many fights, enforcers on the rosters and so on.

The talent would be Canadian and American with the odd swede, finn and czech coming in. No europeans coming from the farm team or the juniors and no russian players at all (is there a way to change this once you get into the early 90's?).

Is this doable and how would you set it up?
