Added 79 Joe DiMaggio to my Stunners at DH, in place of Ohtani.
Shohei was doing alright, but, I mean, Joe DiMaggio

I've been feeling like my 93 Hank Aaron has been playing below-par the last few seasons, especially in Bronze.
This season he has 21 HR and 72 RBI in 68 games ![]() (last season he ended up 32/113, which certainly wasn't terrible but the %'s weren't quite there)

Currently, the Raccoons have the 3rd best overall record at 60-19 (behind Pawnee and then Ann Arbor). We do have the best Pythag just like last season, but that doesn't count. We have the best RDiff at +277 (a +568 pace!). We've never had an RDiff > 424 (and only twice > 400) so I guess that means this league is weaker than the others we were in before. When Orcin posted that his goal was to have an RDiff > 500, I was thinking this will likely never happen for my Raccoons. But maybe this year will be different? Hey, I need something to shoot for until the playoffs begin.

After falling victim to the all cards inactive last night the Fighting Saints have rebounded to pull back within 3.5 games. The dude I'm chasing is the Central Falcons. He's got a hard fighting team for sure.

Knocked out a 12 game win streak starting in June and ending in July, going 22-5 in June. Nolan Ryan continued his dominance, going 4-0 with 46 strike outs in 35 innings, with only 4 er and 9 total walks. Lance Berkman and Carlos Correa led the way for the month, both hitting .333 or higher, with 27 combined XBH, 41 combined runs and 37 combined RBI. Also, Cesar Cedeno has been a stolen base machine, stealing 11 or more bases per month through June. So far in July, the team is 13-5 and just sent 6 guys to the All Star game (Nolan Ryan, Oswalt, Correa, Berkman, Bregman and Cedeno). They are now 71-27 and have a 7 game lead over 2nd place. Hopefully they can continue on their torrid pace, crack 100 wins and hopefully bring me my first title (and bring my Astros them team up to Silver ).

![]() Bob's Milwaukee All-Stars are at a 61-35 mark in Bronze .249, currently. So they're having a great season for sure ![]() (edit: I also don't think i've ever had an All-Star MVP, so it might be now or never lol) (edit: never, as it turns out )

Quick Unicorns update - they are closing the gap on the whale atop their division! A combination of improved play on the part of the Unicorns (thanks to that insane influx of Diamond and Gold talent) and some regression to the mean on the part of the Whale has seen the 11 1/2 game gap shrink to just 5 games. At this pace, they should catch the whale with about a week left in the regular season.
He is currently considering whether to sell his Fernando Tatis Jr and take the points, playing Javier Baez at 3B instead. I know what I would do, but it's his call. I'm a proud papa, to be sure...

I could've sworn every team always had an All-Star, just like irl. However, I just discovered one of my teams had none.

I'm legitimately stunned at how bad my main team has collapsed. 48-30 when July started, 17-31 since. It's like we're trying to find new and innovative ways to both suck and blow at the same time. I had to sell my peak Tom Glavine to fund an overhaul of the offense, and while I'm trying to give it time to do its stuff, the death spiral seems to be never-ending, I've run out of answers in trying to figure this one out. A perfect storm of ineptitude and bad luck.
Looking like it'll be a 7th week at silver for the New York Patriots. If there was a PT version of a "lolcow", it would be us. You get all the points if you get the lolcow reference. Last edited by Magus978; 07-05-2019 at 10:37 PM. |

George Springer, Lance Berkman and Cesar Cedeno lead the way on offense in the second half. Springer is hitting .371 with 10 home runs, Berkman is hitting .354 with 15 XBH (7 2B, 3 3B, 5 HR) and Cedeno is hitting .342 with 14 XBH and 9 SB. On the pitching side, Gerrit Cole pitched like a man possessed, going 5-0 in his 5 starts, with 35 SO in 31 IP, with a 2.03 ERA. Billy Wagner continues to be one of the most reliable closers in the game, with 10 appearances ending in 7 saves and 1 win, with 13 SO in 9 IP. Looks like the Colts will reach 100 wins for the first time ever (barring the worst collapse in sports history) and will be the prohibitive favorite to win the B211 championship. |

The Frogs have been playing some uninspired baseball the last couple of days resulting in actually sinking into 2nd place in the division. The biggest problem has been the bullpen/8th inning. A very economical bullpen put up some great numbers last week (2.68 ERA), but the non-Eckersley pieces have been trash this week. Pedro Borbon (1.87 ERA last week) was pitching to a 9+ ERA through June before I pulled the plug on him. Tried the All Star version of Ryan Pressly because I've had some luck with really high stuff/control and meh movement pitchers (ahem, 89 Eckersley), but Pressly was trash, too. This one issue has probably cost the team 5-10 games all by itself. Still on the prowl for a setup man. At 83-57, the Frogs sit 1 game behind the scorchingly hot New York The Amazins.
I don't think I've ever seen a [non-whale] team come out of nowhere quite like this "New York The Amazins" team has. They played .500 ball through June and randomly decided to go 42-15 (two 21-win months in a row) in July and August. This team is also doing the extreme LHB/RHB park factor thing, and that's helping what looks like a pretty weak offense do enough to complement the stronger pitching element of this team. It'll be interesting to see if my Frogs are resilient to overtake them or not after falling out of 1st place for the first time since mid-April. Either way both teams are all but assured a ticket to the postseason. I'd much rather not have to play a single elimination game if I can help it...

The Unicorns are now 50(!) games above .500 (92-42) and have closed the gap to 2 1/2 games over the whale.
They have a healthy 18 1/2 game lead in the wild card, and with the magic number only 1, post-season baseball is all but assured. The son bought Joey Gallo in the AH but has benched him for the season. He recognised on his own that he shouldn't mess with the roster right now. No tinker stinker for this kid!

Last season all my teams fought for a playoff spot in September, and while two made it, none were promoted. This year, the overall picture is decidedly worse.
The Coons have been thoroughly crummy in Perfect this year. 61-74 and tied for last in their division. Relegation shouldn't be an issue, and the wild cards won't. That's really all there is to say….. Rebs are 71-65, which puts them 2 1/2 behind the second wild card. They are already 12 games out in the division. This division was actually pretty closely packed together with four teams all within a few games of another until July, and then it broke apart... the Rebs weren't doing the breaking; they broke. The only decent card (on paper) the Rebs pulled the last week or so has been A.J. Minter. Let me be plain. I hate A.J. Minter in PT. I have had him on plenty of teams, and he has never not sucked for me. This A.J. Minter has now pitched 8.1 innings and walked a full dozen batters. I hate A.J. Minter in PT, with all my heart. It is a white, burning hatred! The Accountants probably disappoint me the most. They are 67-68 and haven't been able to get over the hump for an extended period of time when I thought they'd clinch a division here. They're seven games out in the division and 5 1/2 for a wild card, with five teams in between, so that ship has sailed. And they're also stuck with a bunch of bad apples in their warehouse. Somebody invested into Paul Goldschmidts. He is very sad now...
