i hadnt played OOTP for a a decade. on a lark bought the $5 new years day sale for OOTP 19.

5 figures later combined between 19 and 20 here i am.

i know of a few others who got pulled in on the sale too and spent a ton on PT.

I get the whale mindset; I live comfortably yet modestly (I f.e. never go on vacation; I have my vacation by being at home and drawing the blinds) and have a cushy rainy day fund that would certainly also buy the meanest team in PT, but I don't think it would be a wise investment of my money. Let's just say I am not at a point where spending five figures on virtual baseball cards would not lead to a noticeable reduction in my financial statements.

But as I have said before, to each their own. I invite everybody to spend as much money as they can and want on PT, because that will keep me entertained going forward.

Did you think that you'd start a team and in week 1 it would be complete and you'd never upgrade it? I sure hope not. Tinkering with and upgrading a team is IMHO the most fun part of this game.

Instead of looking at teams that are a lot better and saying "that team is so good I can never compete," look at that team and say "they have a lot of really good players, what can I learn from their roster?"

Sometimes all you learn is that people who spend a lot of money can get a lot of good cards.

But other times you might learn that playing a player at a different position from what's on his card is a good idea. You might learn about a guy you'd never heard of who seems to have a really good card. You might learn that there's a lower-rated player that appears on many teams.

You can either sigh in frustration or you can try to learn what you can.

It's the same thing as life - there will always be people who are better looking than you, who have more money, who have better jobs... you can sit around and feel like it's not fair or you can try to learn what you can and improve your lot in life.

It's not where you end up, it's how you used what you had available to you.

Very good reminder for us to keep it friendly and in the same spirit as the OL league.

These boards will never be user friendly. I am a OOTP fanboy abig as anybody & when I come here with completely logical issues I get ripped apart. Forum for PT consist mostly of jackasses. I never learn anything here so I stay away. I think anybody new should stay away from forums. Leaves a horrible taste in my mouth

I use the Borg strategy in this game and try to assimilate ideas from other teams to make mine stronger. Resistance is futile.
