Someone just bought mine, an hour after I posted it, for 250,000 BIN.

That's amazing. I mean would he be any better than Lou Boudreau's 88 card which goes for less than 20k?
Lou B. gave me a .300 avg and a 7+ War in PL last week.

I've been riding some kind of unusual Boudreau wave the past 1 1/2 seasons. After hitting .268 and .267 his first two seasons in Perfect, he hit .342 last season and currently at .326 this season. OPS for the 3 1/2 seasons is .662, .703, .874, and .837.

I think we're going to see more and more teams with a good mix of perfect, diamond, and gold cards as time goes on.

I put that Ozzie Smith 90 card on my watchlist as a lowly F2P player. Can't believe it's going for 250,000 PP... must be a bubble. I think if I pulled it now I'd probably sell it. How much does Jackie Robinson 99 go for? Seems like that's a better card, and even moreso if it's cheaper.

Alright then, sounds like Ozzie was just undervalued before. Looks like there's a huge value difference between the cards that can fit on a top team and the cards that are just below that (the Boudreau's and Maddox's of the world). Which makes sense I guess.

Think of it this way - maybe you list it with a 300k BIN, and that person decides that's too high, and doesn't buy it.

There is a discussion somewhere here about the Ozzie Smith card, with someone thinking the price was a result of collusion between two accounts. But there was a fair bit of evidence presented showing how his price has been going up over time, and how his card is actually worth it. Sounds crazy, but it's true.

I think the "whales" are moving to Ozzie 90 from Jackie Robinson 99.
There are 3 Jackie Robinson 99's on AH. They will struggle to sell at posted price. I think the average will come down significantly on the 99 Robinson. |

He's back down to hitting about .240 this season, but I've had a weird season in the PL. I'm like a 1:2 ratio in wins:losses at Home...despite the reverse last season and winning 90 games. But that's baseball :\

If he doesn't excite you when you see him in the lineup, I'd sell him.

I do think that there is a tendency, in general, to chase the "hot" cards. Sometimes a card that is "slightly" better than another card will get to an insane price point just because people believe that it is the "card to get". For those that are FTP, or even more finicky for their dollars, it might be better strategy to focus on good cards that are reasonably priced.
An example at the gold level is SS Lou Boudreau. He is, IMHO, the best gold shortstop in the game, but is he worth 15k?

What’s Lou’s defense ratings out of curiosity?

Don't remember how each defensive attribute breaks down, but he's a 112 SS, I believe.
Might be 100 for all four.

According to my records, Boudreau is 83/125/118/111 at 1b/2b/3b/ss
The only other 2b I am aware of with 2b > 120 are the 70 OVR Ozzie at 121, the 89 OVR Cronin at 127, and the 91 OVR Rizzuto at 123 (a card that is currently being offered at 42k). I’m sure there are others but ratings over 120 are rare I am sure. Of course you need to ask if 10 points of rating at second base are worth 10k PP. Or could you ‘scrape’ by with someone rated 110? Don’t know. But I don’t think the Boudreau price is out of whack with other good defensive cards that have reasonable hitting. Last edited by Charlatan; 06-08-2019 at 07:20 PM. |

I believe Johnny Pesky is close at 2B.
