Purchasing player amount
In my current game, I have promotion/relegation between the two major leagues and Id like to add the option to purchase contracts in the lower league. This is to try and avoid the star players getting stuck in long contracts down in the second division. Is there a good way to judge what to set the amount to be. I dont want it to break things where its too easy to buy players but also dont want teams to ignore the option because the amount is too big. I imagine x% of a superstar contract or something like that might give me a decent amount.

In modern leagues I like to go with $250,000 to purchase, and that usually grants the player a 1-year league minimum contract, and then they can negotiate beyond that.

How are you going to expect teams from the lower tier league to make it to the first tier and have a realistic shot of staying there if all there best talent is poached by the time they get there? I did also consider setting this up for my relegation/promotion league but in the end I just decided that any great player that comes up in the lower tier will run to the higher league when he becomes a free agent.

Well thats why I want the amount to be high enough that its only used in the cases of relegated superstars. Theyd still be building talent from the draft and free agency and then get the large budget boost from promotion to bring in some new players on promotion. I don't really mind keeping it as is, they usually dont get stuck down there for too long anyway. But thought it might be nice to give the option.
