Maybe that's the problem. I't's becoming clear that the "other" option to spending money is to remain in Iron/Bronze/Silver as long as possible to gain enough APs to actually improve your team all at once.
In order to make that legal you would have to keep all your perfect points intact until you have maybe 600,000 or more to spend at one time. Truthfully, it's tempting to sit my three "100" players to get relegated. Yeah, I know that's not legal - but it sure seems like it should be allowed when you don't have any other options other than spend more money.

If you make your three "100" players inactive, nobody would know.

or just put them on the market at a high price you would be happy with while playing it out with who you have left. there can't be a rule against trying to sell your players

I'd love for my f2p teams to just chill in Diamond.

This is also why we need a better definition of what constitutes cheating.

Reading this thread, I'm becoming more perplexed on why resting your better cards would be viewed as illegal or cheating. I mean, if a manager wants to be in a bronze league for multiple seasons and play with Perfect Babe Ruth and a bunch of iron cards and see how high of a HR total he can post for the leaderboards and that's what he wants for entertainment out of the mode ... who is anyone else to say that manager is in the wrong?

You know what would be great? A separate league tree for f2p players. This game is p2w and even p2w more than any other game I've ever played. Would be nice if all the f2p guys could play against each other without the big spenders. I mean we're all paying for the base game after all, so it's not like we're really f2p and they're not making any money with us.

This is where we either need better definitions on what is legal - or maybe it's up to us to try a few things and cross our fingers we don't get banned.

My argument is, however, that achievement points at the higher levels are so few and far between, does it really make any difference - and at the lower levels, guys are rebuilding their teams all the time anyways.

The system works fine. Nothing needs to be fixed. It's a game. There's no reward for winning and no punishment for losing. Just play and have fun... or don't play. Your choice.

Wow, didn't expect to be condemned for wanting to discuss a concept. It may be a game, but there's nothing wrong with chatting about its strong and weak points. If that bothers you, I'd suggest you not read it.

You're correct, there's nothing at all wrong about discussing what you and others feel are strong and weak points of the current system. But it's also fine, is it not, for someone to say that the current system is just fine as it is? Personally, I think we need some changes made and so disagree with Orcin and certain others here, but I don't mind them sharing their opinion even if it's to say all proposed solutions suck. It's OK for them to think that and share that so let them, but please keep the discussion going. I too am hoping for some changes and I might add some ideas to the discussion, but for now, I'm enjoying reading what others here think.

I really don't get why the topic of change gets people so hot under the collar. If it doesn't apply let it slide... The devs are going to run the game the way they want to anyhow. Most of this is all for naught. Suggestions or no suggestions they'll run the ship as they see fit. That said, I've always assumed these types of forums were a place for paying customers or otherwise to discuss the software.

While it's true that the developers will "run the game the way they want to", they still might get some ideas from us so please keep the ideas coming. In my opinion, it doesn't matter if some people think there's no point in discussing these things. Some of us think improvements can be made so we don't need to stop discussing these ideas just because some others think it's pointless. Unfortunately, there's a tendency to get sidetracked (and I'm now contributing!) when someone expresses a contrary opinion, especially if it doesn't seem to be very constructive in nature.

I don't understand why people that are happy with the current system have to be shouted down by the mob. There's no "hot under the collar" here. I just happen to think that the game is fun as it is and doesn't need to be changed. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to say that without being attacked. By the way, I am done here since it is obvious that this thread is only for like-minded people and opposing views are not welcome.

Tournaments may help add to the game. Love to be able to upload teams into my game.

Getting back on topic...
Promotion/relegation is supposed to remove teams from a league level that they no longer belong at, but the method of determining this, seems flawed. A team's record over a single season is not the best indicator of how good they are and how deep they went into the playoffs is even a poorer indicator of how good they are. Promoting a team based on playoff success is a good idea if there was an actual reward for moving to a higher league. But since there's not a reward for going to a higher league then wouldn't it be better to promote teams only if they're truly outclassing the others at their level? So for example, let's say you're in a bronze league and your team quality is truly way better than almost all the other teams at the bronze level. Then promoting your team to a higher level makes since, otherwise you'd just be beating up on the bronze teams earning lots of PP very easily. But if you have a team that wins the bronze championship, but your team quality is not as good as the average silver team quality level (which could be determined by overall ratings, for example - not perfect, but a start), then should you be automatically promoted to silver? It would be nice if it were possible to have promotion not be automatic if your team quality level isn't higher than the other teams at the level you're currently at, even if you won it all. So only automatically promote teams that are significantly better than the level they're at, based on the quality of the cards they have. Unfortunately, this would lead to much fewer promotions to higher levels and that might be a bad thing (though I'm not sure how?). So what other problems might such a system have? Also, if a team is so good that their quality level compares to diamond teams and they just left the entry pool, should they just start at the diamond level? What problems would this create?
