Starter ERA vs Reliever ERA
I've ran this sim several times and continue to see this pop up as a subtle problem with default rosters and the league totals locked.
League ERA: 4.19 2018 ERA : 4.15 Starter ERA: 4.32 2018 Starter ERA: 4.19 Reliever ERA: 3.96 2018 Reliever ERA: 4.08 It would be neat if we had modifiers allowing us to adjust total on reliever vs starter. I know it is only 3% on either off, but early in the actual 2019 season we've actually starters have a better ERA than relievers. |

At first this didn't seem to bother me too much but it just lingered on and forced to kind of bump my own thread
.While each cohort might be off ~3% the fact that they go in opposite directions makes the results worse. Last year relievers had an ERA 3% below Starters and the sim results I am getting are consistently around 9% lower despite league ERA matching 2018. Oddly enough, this season Starters are out-performing relievers in ERA. After more testing I continue to think reliever ratings are too high in this game. My guess is that the pitching in relief bump in the in-game engine isn't being factored in enough when creating stat based ratings for players.... or something along those lines. I was able to replicate 2018 MLB Starter and Reliever Stats using the following: 1) All pitchers above 100 stamina receive 10% boost to pitch ratings, control, movement and +1 for velocity 2) All pitchers below 100 stamina are pushed down 10% in pitch ratings, control, movement, and -1 for velocity 3) Switch lineup selection to Sabermetric |
