Trading overpaid vets

After a poor first half, a couple vets with two years left on their contracts have requested trades. No one will trade for overpaid vets, obviously.

Is there anything I can do to appease them? (I don't mind losing them.) Or do I just have to deal until the end of their contracts?

Depends I was able to trade Miggy by eating 10% of his contract per year and including Nicholas Castellanos and eating his 10 million for 1 year.

Think I got 1 or 2 average prospects back too.

Usually you have to include a couple good prospects if you don't want to eat contract or a good player on a 1 year deal and eat his entire contract.

But if its like an awful player some teams will trade average prospect if you eat the entire contract. Basically going to be eating the money anyway I rather at least get someone with even a small shot at the majors back for it.

trade them before they are untradeable in future... no one wants a mid-30s guy with a heavy contract for very good reasons.

find someone on their team with a horrid contract, but 1-2 years left. if you help them balance budget, they will be more amenable to your proposition. in the past, the ai wasn't so smart about long-term issues, so this often works...

If you don’t mind eating the salary, you can almost always find a taker. I was able to move Mitch Moreland and a struggling (almost 7 ERA at the trade deadline) Rick Porcello in separate deals by eating their entire contracts. Doesn’t work for all—no takers on a productive, albeit in AAA, Rusney Castillo.

Yea rusney is an almost impossible guy to unload without a really good prospect
