Has anyone else tried the live player ratings update feature?
I thought this would be a little more subtle but WOW...it is basically calculating player ratings solely off of the stats from the first week of the season. Glad I tested it on a throway franchise because it's a bit too extreme for my taste, at least this early in the year.
Case in point: Tim Beckham and Willy Adames ![]() (NOTE 4/4/19: After installing the latest update, I was able to get this feature to work correctly and not give extreme ratings. So if you are having results like the ones below, update your game!) Last edited by kcharles520; 04-04-2019 at 02:11 PM. Reason: Problem fixed |

OK, so if I understand what you are saying, the update player ratings btton under "settings" is derived from your own save results, not from ratings that OOTP updates?
If so, then what is the "optimal" frequency that you should be updating player ratings? |

I am surprised so many users are having trouble grasping the 'live' concept.
No, it is not derived from your own save results. When you click update ratings, it will update the player ratings in your save, based on the current situation in real 2019 MLB. Nothing will change except for the player ratings within your save. |

Either I'm missing something or the messages above are talking past each other. I think that kcharles520's point it that, much as we Mariner fans might wish, Tim Beckham isn't really an 80/80/85/60/40 hitter. If Live Update really takes into account just the minuscule sample size of the first few games, I think that I want to use it. It would be great to see Seattle coast into the World Series with 142-20 record.

Thanks to TomVeal for clarifying. I've seen the same thing, again with Seattle, but I noticed it with Domingo Santana. I remember seeing a post from one of the developers saying this feature would not be based on small sample sizes from real life, but I didn't know how they were going to control that. It looks as though sample size is not being taken into account to any great extent when modifying the ratings.

First thing you want to make sure is that you're on the latest versions. Earlier releases had some bugs that they didn't factor in the sample size properly.
Otherwise, please do let us know if things work or don't work. It's still a new feature so there could be data errors, or other issues with how we're merging in the data. |

Is this the "Force Game Data Reinstallation" button in Settings we are talking about?

After installing the latest OOTP update, the player ratings update is much more reasonable and I have yet to see any real outliers.
Here is Tim Beckham's live rating update using the latest version of OOTP, much more realistic: |

FYI, I did discover that you cannot do Live Update for a game you are starting in challenge mode. I guess that makes sense if they are still working out the kinks.

This is a very nice feature. Can someone confirm, though, only major league players are updated? Are they only updated using MLB stats?
Thanks. |
