Cartersville Silver Cardinals

Having spent the last week tweaking my main team (Cartersville Cardinals) and reading the forums I got a hankering for a challenge team, hence the birth of the Cartersville Silver Cardinals!

The Silver Cardinals will be just that, an eventual team of all silver players. The self-imposed rules are simple:
1) Raise team to have all silver players
2) All Gold players will be auctioned off.
3) Players can ONLY be obtained through card packs, no auction Silvers.
4) Card packs for this challenge will only be bought by PP.

Rules are to make the challenge just that, a challenge and one that I hope will last until OOTP20 arrives!

So, let's get to it!

So, after opening 6 packs, the Silver Cardinals have their first three silver players on the roster. Here they are!

I did receive one Gold card which was a 82 RF Kiki Cuyler 1925 Record Breaker who quickly went onto the Auction Block.

Don't think I got the team created in time for making the Rookie League this season, but that will give me time, and hopefully PP, to get the team a little more up to speed.

Boys are 4 games below .500 at the 28 game mark,... roughly as expected with this bunch. Open 3 packs of cards today with no Silver or above, but did add some depth.

Here's hoping tomorrow will see more improvement.

Well, life prevented me from updating this as I would have liked to, but wanted to chime in and say that I had a blast with this challenge!!!

In the Silver Cardinal's 14 full seasons they finished with 6 first place finishes (1 in Silver, 5 in Bronze) while winning it all in 2021. Team finally made it to Silver players in all positions and pitching slots in 2031 and have qualified for the playoffs each year since.

Why has this been fun? Well, to start, in order to compete you have to do the best with what you get. With no Gold player or above eligible you have the challenge of hanging with Copper players for quite a while in some positions making for quite a few lineup and pitching adjustments throughout a season.

Another reason it was fun is that since I sell/auction all players above Silver I get to open a TON of player packs. Granted, would have loved to play with some of the big boys, but that was not why I played this challenge. (I have a normal team also and I cried quite a few times at the cards I had to sell)

Last reason is that winning feels like a true accomplishment. Sure there is a degree of luck involved,(what sport doesn't have that) but take that luck and a little strategy and you may get yourself a trophy!

I will probably not follow this team as much now as I will be moving onto OOTPXX today. That said, the Silver Cardinals 2.0 is a Definite!!
