Been the best team in the league the last couple of seasons. When you got Schilling I did everything possible to try and get you to trade him. (You and I know about my PM to you) I was so frustrated because I knew he would put you up over the top. I figure you just needed a number one ace and you got him. I actually told Joe Hart (Gods truth) that I wanted Schilling more then perfect Pedro. Joe is smarter then me and kind of stated in his own way that there was not enough info on him yet to judge how good he is. This is the kind of league I have to play against. (Genius spreadsheet guys) while I just wing it with my heart and gut and then ask for help. (Thanks Joe) as far as the playoffs go I am probably the worst. If I hold on this will be my 15th time I and only twice have I won it. Everybody is off Sunday and the best teams make the playoffs so anybody can win. Managers can set their lineups for opponents park and opponents pitchers and such and the best are out there doing that so don’t feel bad about losing in the playoffs. I am the Champion of that but I have only lost to wonderful teams and Great managers who are home to play them. 🍻 |

In the 1st 14 seasons, it is very rare that the #1 teams in both conferences make it out of the best of 5 divisional series. I actually don't remember a time when this happened. Wildcards have been doing exceptionally well in this game.

You are right. Also it seems the last few years the second best record in the Conference was the Wild card team. Because the best record and the second best record were in the same Division they would have to play that 5 game series. It seemed very unfair that either one should have to lose that early. Oops September has just started time to go pull up a chair and watch the Zorros play ball. 😁

Then Perfect Pedro loses 1-0. Now we can’t hit? I give up. 🤬

My friend is throwing a party from 2 pm to 7 pm In the city for a party I have to go to so I am in trouble as far as changing my lineup on the road goes. So my pitching staff will have to carry us. Thank God it is today and not tomorrow. I have already told my wife that anything on St Paddy day is out because I want to repeat. We always go to a friends house on St Paddy day because he throws a big shin ding every year because he is Irish and wants to prove it. Lol. If I do not make it to the playoffs I will go but otherwise I am here. He said I am out of my mind and I reminded him that yes I am and also I am not Irish. Which he says is a shame. Anyhow good luck to everyone today and I will be back late tonight drunk to see how we all did. Just remember that chant we all love to here “ Go Zorro Go”. 😜

The boss ( My wife) just told me we had two hours before the car arrives sooooo I will get to see Schilling and Halladay pitch before I go. I also think I am going to change my regular lineup before I go since I can’t regulate them according to where we play. We need a nice long 20:game winning streak to get back in The Division race. 😉

....and here is me hoping to win 3-4 games in a row to brighten my day. I feel your pain. I tried to convince the boss the kids should skip some little league and go all in on OOTP but she just shook her head and send that plan back to the drawing board. Back to me standing in the Seattle rain every night watching little league practices. Good luck today. My teams still need some more donations to the OOTP luck gods to make it to Sunday play.

I just noticed something interesting. I have three starters that were on my Championship team and have been here all year long and they are all silver cards. Even if I have to go back to a Whale league I would probably still use them. They have been very valuable for my team. Pena who’s catching ERA is 3.05 this year and 3.50 lifetime does not get better then that. Smith and Kell have been my left side D for the last few years. Though I might upgrade Kell if I had the extra points but he is a lifetime .289 hitter for me and does not make errors although his range is quite poor. Smith I would keep for sure and Pena because his ERA is lower then any other Catcher I have ever seen. (It is funny when I joined this league I had to bench Johnny Bench and now I am happy I did. That would have never happened in another league.)😁

I've got quite a few silvers I intend to keep:
Bob Boone great as a lefty platoon-- Vizquel, trained at 2B can win glove award there, .273/.333/.348 162 game average in perfect leagues. Simmons at SS similar to Vizquel and cheaper than Ozzie Pesky can back up middle infield or Fernandez who can also back up 1B I don't have these guys fully trained, but on my B team, I do. (That's why that team was stuck in bronze for 10 weeks!) Adonis Medina as a specialist against RHB. I think the AI should use him more given the number RHB in the league, but it doesn't happen. Only gets about 20 IP/wk. Richie Ashburn -- not doing so hot, but seems like he should Last edited by bailey; 03-16-2019 at 01:16 PM. |

So much for trying to reach the playoffs with the Base Thieves. My upcoming opponents are all great teams Zorro, Warriors, and Angry Dragons while my biggest opponent (Bob's Burgers) gets teams with a winning record in the low .400s.
I have to admit that I just could not catch up. Anytime I got a win streak going, the teams ahead of me won as well. I am going to miss all your teams next week if we all start roaming again or change the format. |

You can do it if you assign all your pitchers as specialists and then assign secondary duties but you will eventually run into situations when your opponents has R-L-R-L-R-.... and your pitchers end up all getting used up. Once you have a roster that is all exhausted, you tend to produce some pretty bad results (double digit losses). As long as that scenario does not happen, I was able to produce some really great pitching seasons (usually using 7 in bullpen). Hard to properly gauge in our league from year to year due to all the improvements and adjustments. |

I have one more Silver card to add to the list.
Kevin McReynolds is a perfect substitute for all our power hitters that can't play defense. His defensive ratings: 123LF, 96CF, and 107RF. When I played him ~80 games, he produced around 2WAR in our league. |
