Unhappy I cannot play a game and need help

I have a very recent download of the game. Everything works fine accept when I go to play a game. Once I pick lineups I proceed to game and that is where the problems start. the "Initializing sound" window is up for at least 5 minutes before going to the game (and during this time I intermittantly here the sounds come in and out....sort of like it was testing clips but they are not always coming out of both speakers). Once it get 's to the game it is un-playable.....2-5 minutes to do every single action!.

I have done a Windows XP update, update Direct X, video and sound drivers.

I have an Alienware P4 with 256 Ram. plenty of harddrive and a GeForce 3 video card. I have tons of games and have no other problems

I have tried the game with test leagues and w/o monor leagues on and I keep getting the same results.

Any help would be appreciated becuase I can't use the game now(is it possible to attempt to re-download the game w/o having to pay again?)

THANK YOU!~

You may need to "disable" in-game sounds in "game setup". As you may or may not know adding sound to ANY program brings up the possibility for many more conflicts with other programs, drivers, etc on a PC.

You may try updating your sound card drivers if you have not already, but not sure it will help.

Thank you Steve, Turning off the sound actually worked.

I have a Soundblaster Live sound card with an updated driver.

Anything I can do to try to get the sound to work?

It adds alot to the game when you are playing....again thanks for the quick response

Really hard to say, possibly adjust the "hardware sound acceleration level" in the DirectX diag. tool. At the run command type "dxdiag", hit enter and allow the program to run completely. When it is done, select the "sound 1" tab and try lowering the sound acc. and see if that works.
