Hey, cool!
I have a team called American Angels. It's majority filled (13 players) with Angel connections (it can be a card from another team if you played for the Angels, or even a card of a relative of someone who played for the Angels, e.g. Vladdy Jr., and Yadier Molina. Or say, Jackie Robinson. After all, they retired his number. ;-) ).

Since it would be too hard, probably impossible, to build a top-level all Angel team, my condition for the remaining 12 was that they had to be American born. I thought that was a good restriction considering the current MLB state, but turns out that in PT that's not much of a restriction since the majority of historical players are US-born.

So my mostly Angel team made it to Perfect Level and last week it culminated in a WS win. Now to make it tougher, I'm transitioning to a Californian Angels team where the last 12 have to have been born in California or have played for a California team in HS, College, Minors or Majors.

It should still be possible to win a Perfect Level league, but it will be harder.

Hope our teams cross paths at some point!
Are you local to So Cal and at the Big A from time to time?

And now for my gripe... Where are the 1973 Nolan Ryan and 1964 Dean Chance cards? Two best pitching years of our franchise not yet available.

Looks like my M-Stars, the Michaels, and the Yonkers all Yankee team are in Bronze311, with you two both in the same division. In my division, I get to face Perdido again, who won 105 games with an all-Diamond rotation--in Bronze?! Last season the Michaels did us proud, getting the top wildcard spot and making a run in the playoffs, while the M-Stars faded badly down the stretch and barely scraped above .500 (82-80). Good luck to us themers!

Very Cool... I started out as an all Angel team for about 5 seasons but there would just be no way to compete with the current cards... I agree that there are some good ones missing.. I have a 1972 Nolan Ryan but he's very mediocre at best..

There's a 1972 Ryan card? I've never seen that one anywhere. What's is its overall rating?

I'm trying to collect every Angel-connected card. I've got all the Bronze and under that I know of and all but 5 Silvers I know of (ones that rarely come up and always seem overpriced when they do).

I'm probably around 50% on the Gold and up ones, working at saving up for the most expensive ones first to add to my team.

I finally saved up enough to get the perfect Barry Bonds since his Dad was a halo back when I was a kid. But he has a lot of other cards that are also mega-points, and Trout has several expensive cards too, so it's probably an unrealistic dream to try to collect them all. Fun to try though.

And of course, you can only have one card per player on your team, so those cards get collected by me last.

BTW, as an old dude, I know Angels history pretty well and recognize most of the ex-Angel players easily, even when it's a card from when they played on a different team. But in researching my team I discovered a fun fact that I didn't know. Gavvy Cravath, who has a pretty decent 93 OVR card as a Record Breaker from 1915 once played for the minor league Los Angeles Angels in the PCL. He's even buried in Anaheim. Ha! He's my DH against LHP.

Unfortunately the Yonkers Yankees will be spending a 4th season in Bronze (.311). Went 110-52 and lost in the DS

Awesome.. I'm personally waiting for them to add a 1979 Don Baylor myself.. A good Wally Joyner would be fun too..

1972 Nolan is a 88 rating. He has 118 Stuff, 103 FB and 100 Curve, but his Control at 33 is really holding him back.. I've only seen it come up in auction once and I snagged it.. Probably overpaid at 10k but I had to have him..

thakfu2 - Gold Level - Milwaukee Braves... my team is all classic players, no 2018 players allowed on the roster. I'm considering transitioning them to either an all Milwaukee (Braves and Brewers) team or an all 80s and 90s team.

Yeah, right now there's THREE of them on the AH. I hadn't seen it yet.

But I won't be buying one... I've decided to sell off most of my collection, and just keep the cards I need for Active Roster with a handful of reserves.

Will start over with OOTP20, giving me a whole year to collect every Angel-connected card.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the lack of updating OP lately. I think I have made all the necessary edits now. Please let me know if anything is incorrect.

And please try to update your friends list this weekend! I'd really love to see all 9 of us diamond teams together for once, it will help us all be more competitive

Well nyny, its me and you for the Silver .262 Title. You knocked off the Dacula Braves in a 7-game series to advance and they were a real tough team. Good luck!

That's my team. Time for the battle of 96 win teams.

Best of luck

If I've learned anything from PTOOTP19 going forward into PTOOTP20 while managing two Indians themes teams stuck in gold, it's that.....

Don't turn a team into a theme team until you can afford to purchase the top 2 or 3 cards from your theme.....in my case a perfect Feller and Boudreau. If you prematurely create a theme team, you'll never earn enough points to advance into the perfect level unless you have the patience to not log in for months. Landing those perfect cards will just be a pipe dream to chase all season long. Hitting the lottery with pack openings is a crapshoot. Building a theme team around a superstar card is crucial.
The good news is we all have 12 months with OOTP20 so be patient if you can. Once you have enough capital to invest into a theme, do it!
Just my unwanted 2 cents

I'm not good at the game yet, but once I am I am going to try a few.

High OBP card only(high eye/avoid k stats and low everything else)
Only speedsters
All-Lefty squad
All under-27 squad
All players who have only 1 skill above 100 and everything else below.

Thats just a few. They're probably terrible ideas.

I know what you mean. The only other way to get it would be if someone is feeling charitable and posts the card at a big discount. Other than that there has been a defined cutoff for upper tier cards. Of course I have my Indians team but for my Astros team its cards like the perfect Bagwell, the upper tier Wagner and Ryan and the like. I managed to get Mike Scott after saving for a few weeks and someone posted him at around 22k PP. I lucked out and acquired Satchel Paige and Doug Jones on my Indians team like this as well. Anything above them takes either patience, luck, or your wallet. Should be interesting to see how it goes in OOTP 20.

Team with player ratings in the 80's

Was thinking of just having players with ratings in the 80's on my team. Are there any leagues like that around. Thanks

Michael Mayhem and the M-Town Stars are duking it out in the wild card game first thing tomorrow.

I can add Brisbane Brewers for my team if I end up staying in bronze as well.

I have a walks themed team in Bronze as well (Waddling Walruses - mwadsit2 as user) but I'm not sure that would really be considered a theme under these guidelines (more of a strategy). They're also fighting in the playoffs with the M-Town Stars and Michael Mayhem league.
