There is a big difference between hitter BABIP and pitcher BABIP. For hitters, there is some skill involved, though still a lot of luck. Hitting more line drives and spraying the ball to all 3 fields raises your BABIP...those are hitting skills. For pitchers though, it's almost completely all luck. So you were kinda right about that. |

I hope someday, OOTP adds statcast data to the game. BABIP is also highly dependent on how hard the ball is hit and launch angles, but that shouldn't change much since the cards are static.
It has been proven that BABIP is a pitching skill as well to some extent, but the same thing exists there since the cards are static. So really BABIP changing for either the pitcher or hitter should be based purely on luck and defense. And if your defense isn't changing, then it will be basically all luck. FIP removes defense so FIP going up and down should be purely luck based. There could also be a change based on park factors changing, but I doubt it's severe unless it's your home park. What would be interesting is if we all left our teams playing as is without changing anything after OOTP 20 comes out for about 20 seasons so we can get some good data on variability since absolutely nothing would be changing. I guess my guy is just unlucky then. But you would think that 1000 plate appearances would begin to balance that luck back out. The league BABIP is .302 and this is George Sisler.

A .290 hitter should have an average between .250 & .330 in 19 of 20 seasons
I spent 1 season in this league. This was by far Trouts worst season...for whatever reason |

I actually sold my Trout in this league. Never batted over 230. Constantly hitting around 200.

Standings at the all-star break:
AC all-stars: NC all-stars: NC won the all-star game 10-7. Durham's Mookie Betts was the MVP. |

The way this is looking at the 1/2 pole, I’ll be doing the Davidsons overhaul back in Diamond.

thanks for posting the all stars. I never looked at this. So many of the same player like Betts and Brown. It's kinda funny.

For the heck of it, here's a breakdown of all the starting pitchers being used by every team as of 7/24 on this season's calendar. 55 different starters total, with 28 of those being unique and only used on one single team. After adding them up, I see 148 so I missed 2 somewhere but I think you get the picture, the majority of these cards are B+ or better. 18 teams with Kevin Brown!
This doesn't even count the bullpens which include many of these same cards. The pitching staffs are tough, not surprising many of us are wondering why are offensive guys are sucking. 96 Brown 18 86 Keuchel 11 94 Clemens 7 96 P. Martinez 6 94 Blanton 6 93 Gibson 6 92 Mungo 6 96 Smoltz 5 93 Maddux 5 91 Maddux 5 96 M. Scott 4 95 Harvey 4 83 Dierker 4 98 Syndergaard 3 96 Grienke 3 96 W. Johnson 3 96 C. Young 3 78 Barker 3 97 Halladay 2 97 Newhouser 2 97 R. Johnson 2 96 Matthewson 2 96 Prior 2 95 Rigney 2 93 Alexander 2 91 Faber 2 90 Drysdale 2 100 R. Johnson 1 97 W. Johnson 1 97 Hubbell 1 96 Keefe 1 96 Chandler 1 96 Feller 1 95 Koufax 1 95 Luque 1 95 Matthewson 1 93 Carrasco 1 93 Lincecum 1 92 Saberhagen 1 92 C.
