How spending 5000 PP got OOTPD to sink their claws into me

I have pulled a lot of crap from packs. Ranging from the 1,000 PP packs and a few 5,000 PP packs.
I quickly discovered 5,000 PP packs are not worth it. Golds are much cheaper form the AH. Better to roll the dice with 1,000 PP packs..
And if your like my club still stuggling in the bronze leagues then 1-2 silver players in a pack are a god send and even some of the high 60s bronze players can fill in gaps.

Then today after saving for almost a week I had 5,800 PP and decided to get a pack of 5.
I was not expecting much. A lot of bronze and maybe a few silvers to help my team get marginally better.
Oh boy was I wrong.

On my third pack I saw the shimmer of diamond and my stomach dropped a bit.

Then on my next pack with my heart still beating irregularly it happened again.

And to top it off I also did nab a few silver players and a gold Marlins 2018 catcher to help my weak catching corps.

So I get a front line starter to help me all the way to the gold leagues and one of the best 2018 live 1B in 5 card packs.

I may of used up all my luck until OOTP 20.

wow that is wonderful. Mine always suck. The best card I ever got was the picture of my wife and I sitting at the kitchen table. 😫

Did my usual Sunday night post season ritual of buying packs. Purchased 12 and had 1 more from challenge mode.

Ended up with a Diamond Magglio Ordonez, gold 2018 Bryce Harper and a gold 2018 Patrick Corbin.
Also got a few silvers and a few bronzes to flip on the AH.

Another great starter and now my outfield is really great with Acura Jr, Ordonez and Harper.

Now if I can just get out of the bronze leagues

You're probably better off selling the 90 Strausburg and picking up on of the historical All Star ones. Might even have a little change left over afterwards.

Much better movement ratings, IIRC.

I don’t mess with the AH except to sell and browse what cards are the universe.
My team does not use a theme but I only use cards that I pull from packs as I feel more ‘connected’ to them.
I am weird I know.

Much respect to the Packs Only / F2P squad. I pulled two Diamonds after about 50-60 packs, an Aaron Judge and a Justin Verlander. Had to sell the Verlander because I got him on a themed team account, but on another account, I was really compelled to play Judge over my gold Mel Ott ... and stuck with him after he went something 5 for 50. I understand what you feel about a connection.

I have two f2p teams. One is packs only , and then other is ah only.

I started up just a few weeks ago and have been lucky with my packs pulling a Rendon (97), Kluber (96), and Goldschmidt (91), along with a fair number of golds. I am not spending any money for points so far and plan to stick with packs being my primary source for players. I’m hoping for the magic of getting a perfect card.
