Has anyone ever received a trade proposal and accepted it?
I have received well over 100 trade proposals in just over a full season of my franchise and they are TERRIBLE! I have never once received a deal that I even needed to think about. They offer me one 20/20 player and expect anything from a 45/60 player upwards of a 60/70 player in return. ALWAYS.
I ONCE had a proposal where the player offered was a 30/80, but they seriously wanted my ace (70/72) AND my best prospect (32/75). Is it like this for everyone? Every deal I've ever done in this game is one I proposed. I don't understand it. It's almost like the computer is trying to insult me or something. Sorry for the rant. I just want REALISTIC offers at least once in a while. |

Yeah. For me it's usually an offer of some 35+ yr old player in obvious decline for my entire prospect list. F--- outta here.

yeah, i got an RP in return of great need.
i don't recall what i gave up... at worst (or best for them) an aging position player that i already had a replacement waiting their turn. i rarely would think of such a thing then, but now i pretty much never do it, safe to say at this point years later. i know he pitched poorly for me... i ended up losing them after that 1 year by trade or FA and they pitched amazing elsewhere... re-signed as a FA 2-3 years later and then he started to age on me well before ~35. just bad luck everytime i had him on my team. never done it since, and i don't even look at those evil emails. i lost draft picks for a poorly performing rental that rubbed it in my face a few years later just for kicks.faded memory, and i know there's another post i mention this punk in, lol. whatever i said then is likely more accurate. |

In my experience, these trade proposals are rarely of any interest at face value, but sometimes they are just intriguing enough to open up a dialogue. And then, yes, sometimes I end up making a trade, though one that is a variation on the original proposal.
Having said that, once or twice, as I recall, I have made the trade just as it was proposed. Very rare. But on a rare occasion the offer totally works for me. Sure, most of the time I reject them out of hand without any discussion. And I certainly understand why many here get frustrated with these proposals and even just ignore them completely. Still, to me they feel like about the right mix of what one might expect in real life. Hey, I've never been an actual MLB G.M., or anything even remotely close to that, so this is just how it feels to me. |

I don't mind getting really bad offers from the AI as I figure they are doing their fiduciary duty to try and rip me off. Maybe it starts a dialogue and maybe not.
The thing I don't enjoy, though, is when you set your team needs and the AI subsequently approaches you with trade bait but it's a player they literally will not trade. Maybe a little tweak could be made so those teams don't try and offer you guys that are basically on their no-trade list. Granted, I usually set my team needs to the best of everything (young-ish, cheap-ish, talented-ish), but I generally end up leaving it blank just to avoid those fake offers I would otherwise get. |
