These cards are so common that I pulled all but two or three (not exactly sure on Stammen) either in the public beta or after the game went live, some even multiple times. There is nothing wrong, forbidden, or "unethical" in having eight Altuves. At worst, it is inconvenient to the player himself.

Also, cornering the market is rather impossible for gold cards, since everybody can draw them with fair regularity themselves, and nobody can possibly want to invest the tens of thousands of dollars it would take to buy up ALL the gold cards on the auction house… while players still draw new ones all the time.

Nothing to see here.

I have exactly zero. I don't keep duplicate cards. I've managed, between my teams, to collect 1 WS...which is more than some, less than others. I have solid teams, but as yet have no perfects and only a few diamonds.

That doesn't make any sense. It's the same effect on the market if he bought no packs at all or if he quick sold all of them. Why does he have to do the rest of the PT universe a favor by putting cards on the AH after he spent all that money to buy them?

I cant believe theres a thread about this.

Why do so many people care what do or dont do? Worry about yourself.

On top of that all these cards are common

If this player spent money and got the team they wanted and had a lot of gold cards left over it might of been too much of a hassle to put them on auction for fair prices and have the 10% tax taken out.

And if they quick sale them then those cards simply disappear and are never seen again.

Some cards are so rare that there is a finite number of them, and they will never be numerous. Of course, the market corrects for that, making it very difficult to hoard them. That's not those gold cards, though.

As far as 20 coming out, people think there's going to be this big crash in prices. If people aren't playing 19, then there's going to be less packs opened, so supply will drop along with the demand.

Actually no card is finite. If enough people opened enough packs eventually we would see thousands of even the rarest of cards.

The developers make the pack odds pretty clear. Cards may see finite because this is still a pretty small game with a pretty small number of pack openings.

Just because someone pulls a 100 perfect card does not mean it pulls from a general pool of so many 100 perfect cards nor does it mean that it lowers the odds of others getting 100 perfect cards.
It all depends on the numbers of packs being opening and die rolls. It is possible for the rarest card to be pulled 100 times in a single week if enough packs are opened.
Extremely unlikely but possible if the dice are rolled often enough.

In this version of PT there is no such thing as limited edition cards or pulling cards affecting how you or others pull cards.
Please do not spread false information.

The developers have stated that the only packs that are in any way 'modified' are your six starting packs.
You are guaranteed at least one gold card and the positions of the players
fall in such a way that you can field a full 25 man roster and not have the misfortune of your starting entry level team have 13 first basemen.

After that the card pack odds are listed.
Each 1000 PP pack is guaranteed at least one bronze and each 5000 PP pack is guaranteed at least one gold.

The odds have to be in the multiple powers of 10, but it is possible to pull a single 1000 PP pack and get 1 bronze card and 5 perfect 100 cards.
And that in no way pulls from a finite list of 100 rated cards or affects your next pack or anyone else's next packs.

You are "technically" correct, but for real purposes, there are definitely some finite cards. There only exists so many of them, because more haven't gotten pulled yet, and as you say, chances are they never will. That's hardly spreading misinformation.

Being rare does not make something finite in quantity. These are two separate concepts and are not the same thing.

Exactly, rarity is not the same as being finite.

Timber from trees is not rare but is finite.
Matter in our universe is super rare compared to the amount of universe itself but is not finite because the universe itself is infinite.

It's true that the definition of both those words are separate concepts. I am saying that the rarity of some cards makes them effectively finite for our purposes. In a theoretical model, they are not finite, that's correct. It's also useless in practicality.

But it is also useless to assume an obligation to circulate any unused card. Quickselling a Perfect Hornsby (as someone did) may not be prudent strategy, but they were within their right to effectively remove that specific instance of the card from the game. They did not owe the community anything.

I agree with that, and I also think that the rarity of certain cards is acknowledged by the marketplace, making it hurtful to "hoard." Honestly, if someone's strategy has gone that far, there is really nothing left for them to do in this game.

I wish there was an Ignore Thread feature where I wouldn't even know people are posting in this one.

For all practical purposes, what is the difference between hoarding cards and quick selling them? Is anyone saying that players have a duty to put all cards on the AH instead of quick selling them or keeping them on reserve? Even if they didn't want to bother with auctions? Do they also have a duty to sell them for really cheap just to do favors for other players? This is the worst thread since the beginning of PT.

Quick, someone turn this into a discussion how it hurts free-to-play players!

Can't you just ignore it instead of trying to stifle peoples thoughts on the subject? I found the discussion interesting. People brought up a couple of points I hadn't considered.

First: I have too many things to worry about to spend time going through other people's team rosters trying to find reasons to complain.

Second: If Joe Sheit the Rag-man has all of his slots full, what difference does it make to me and why does it matter to you?

Third: There are no valid arguments for challenging a players ethics here. The reserve roster was made to hold players in case you forgot.

As mentioned before, expect this to be common practice next year for borderline cards. People will stockpile those 89's if they believe there is a chance the card could be bumped to diamond.

There is really no reason to do it now though, Especially with some of those cards since you can usually find multiple copies of them on the market at any given time.

I. like everyone else, took a bit of time to understand the math behind this game - but once you do see the forest-for-the-trees in the concept, you would realize there simply is no reason to be concerned here.

The only valid reason I can see one could take issue with is that hording better players does keep them off the market to play against you or other teams - but that shouldn't be seen as a sin as much as it is a strategy.

As others have said, YOUR pack opening is not effected by how many previous pulls are kept in reserve.

I keep very few players in reserve, but the ones I do I keep them for one reason only... when I need extra points because I want to make a team change or want to buy additional packs, I sell them for the PPs.

Am I guilty of a sin because I don't make them available immediately?

This isn't real baseball. In real baseball there are no duplicates, thus this game calls for slightly different strategies.

Sorry, but I see this as much ado about nothing.
