He's had an up and down career in my game - I'll give him a rub this year in editor and see what he can do!

RIP, sir.

He was a top five player period (pitchers included) in my 63-season OOTP16 historical random debut game (1901-1963). Below are his final stats and his awards page. Don't be alarmed by the HR totals in the deadball era (beginning of his career). I played this one with 1984 LTMs for stats output every season to put everybody on a level playing field. I also played using 3-year recalc and player development set at default.

RIP sir. You were great even though your greatness was obscured because you came into MLB a little bit after Aaron, Mantle, and Mays had established themselves, and Clemente and Kaline had just debuted. RF was an extremely rich position back then. I count four inner circle types debuting in the early to mid-1950s, which is remarkable. Ted Williams and Stan Musial were still around, along with Eddie Mathews. Sheesh! What a time it must've been to be a baseball fan.

Also, those Oriole teams of his late 60's early 70's were really great, and it always seemed like he was the backbone. Brooks, Blair, Belanger, Boog Powell, Elrod Hendricks, McNally, Cuellar….
I believe that the 1969-71 Orioles still hold the record for most wins over three seasons (318), despite playing only 158 in '71.
