Buying packs

Hi guys. Newcomer to Perfect Team here.

Would you recommend free to play or spending money on packs?

If you spent money, how much money have you guys spent?

Would you recommend buying packs, the auction house, or both?

Which packs are best to buy?

How do you know if the price of a card on the auction house is a good deal or not?

How do you know how much to set the price of a card for that you want to sell on the auction house?

Thank you for your time.

Starting out, I'd go with the AH. You can easily find many upgrades for really cheap. If you buy packs, I'd buy the silver packs for more chances at diamonds and perfects. The (relatively) fair price of cards on the AH shows up in the last 5 sold which is listed when you expand a card. When selling cards, remember there is a 10% fee so adjust your price higher than the minimum or you could lose PP over quick selling the card. I'd set the price using both the last 5 sold listing as well as looking to see if there are other auctions for the same card available so you can undercut them.

I missed the beta but started with the first season, 2019. Since that time I spent 15 bucks to build up my team after being promoted to Silver in 2021. I eventually made it to Perfect, where I was totally outclassed and was relegated after two seasons. The only way I financed my team was by earned points and points from auctioned players, so it can be done, but it ainīt easy! Getting promoted is great, but being competitive at the higher levels is a different kettle of fish.

I read the forums here a lot and found a lot of great advice, the best being to buy standard packs hoping for a player that could be sold for big money. I finally managed to pull a Perfect Wade Boggs and put him on the market immediately. Just in time for the market to crash! Instead of the 240k he had been selling for, I finally sold him for 150k, but that was more than enough to put my team together. I am now in my second season at Diamond and the boys are doing quite well.

The main things, for me anyway, are to be patient and not over pay (always check the last five price, there are some folks who try to sell players for way over their real value), read the forums and find out what cards are under and over performers, and what to look for in the ratings, e.g, movement for pitchers is very important, and so on.
As for packs, the biggest mistake I made with the PP I bought was to buy a Gold pack for 5k. Sure, you are guaranteed a gold player, but will he be worth 5k? Chances are, no. In my case I got J.D. Martinez, who is a good player at most levels but can be bought for less than 2k nowadays. Live and learn.
Sorry for the lengthy reply, I donīt post that often so I reckon I have a lot of words saved up. Good luck!

Thank you. This is really helpful. I’m going to try and open standard packs then and hope for someone to sell to finance my team.

Thanks for the kind words. And donīt forget to use some of your points to keep a competitive team on the field, they generate points for you. Best of luck to you!

I won my first auction. Will the player only appear on my team after the season?

It likely starts out as inactive, especially if you were offline when you won it. Go into the Manage Cards section to activate it.
