OOTP and Perfect Team

Are these two games going to be separated in the future? Its really annoying waiting for updates to a game (Perfect Team) I'm not playing??? I'm not knocking the game. The updates are annoying. If I started up Steam, launched Civilization 6 and had to wait for Warcraft (which I don't play) to update I would be rightfully annoyed!!!!!!

I've tossed my Steam version of OOTP in favour of the direct version and my whine level has gone way down.

pretty much same here. i use the steam version to test any new ideas i have, and to beta test. the standard game i use for my ongoing game, which i update whenever i feel like it.

I still use Steam. The only time updates bug me is if one occurs when I'm trying to squeeze in a few games before leaving for work. Sometimes it's Steam itself that updates at an inconvenient time.

I hate that steam would automatically update and the game would replace things i did not want to be replaced.
So i just play offline on one computer and update when i want.
That way i can play another game on steam if i want to while a sim is running.

I play offline in steam too to avoid the updates.

Perfect Team also needs to have all its news confined to the Perfect Team forum, why does this forum have to be plastered with irrelevant psts every day?

You guys do realize that Perfect Team allows the game to generate revenue which can be used to overall improve the game, right?

The sentiment in here is very reminiscent of the Madden Ultimate Team bah humbug, money grab, leave the game alone, give them their own game crowd. I don't know how long it takes for the game to update Perfect Team and I get that can be annoying. But to suggest they need their own game is crazy The idea is for the regular user of the the game to crossover into PT and increase revenue. You don't have to obviously, but it would make zero sense from a business perspective to separate them.

I can’t think of any recent update that has been over 50 MB and it’s the year 2019. I can turn on Steam and a 50 MB update has been downloaded before I can even get to the download screen.

This thread sounds like a reason to complain about PT
The updates have small in size and you can play other games while OOTP updates.

I'm not anti-PT by any means and have enjoyed it a good amount (although I haven't fired it up in a few weeks), but I was getting annoyed with the updates as well. My issue wasn't the update downloads themselves, but rather having to wait a few minutes for the update to install in game way more often than usual because of how frequent the updates were. I understand that's the nature of getting PT tuned and everything though, but I'm hoping OOTPXX's PT isn't going to lead to a constant stream of updates as well.

I live in Neck-of-the-Woods, can't get more than about 4 MB/s on Steam, but the update hardly takes a minute at all. "I hate X" seems to be a strong reaction to this situation.

PT and regular OOTP won't ever be separated, as they're not really different games, PT is just a mode of OOTP. In the future though, you'll see the amount of PT specific updates go way down.

They're as high as they are now because PT is a completely new game mode and as such requires a lot of tweaking and patching, just like regular OOTP does for a month or two after release.

In the future though, since both game modes will come out at the same time, the updates will likely look much more like what you've come to expect from OOTP updates in the past, heavier at first but tapering off later in the year. And they'll typically include fixes and improvements for both both regular OOTP and PT, not the PT heavy or PT only patches like you've been seeing for the last month or two.

So TLDR, the high amount of PT related patches recently, should be a one time thing for this year only, because PT is so new.

I just leave the game open all of the time. That way it doesn't update. Then, when it is convenient for me to update, I close it and let it update.

I have said this several times already, Steam updates of OOTP are usually between 50 and 90 MB, so pretty tiny. I do not see a problem here to be honest.

And as Lukas said, PT will never be seperated from OOTP. It's now a fundamental part of the game, just like for example historical leagues.

I find Steam super convenient. Who wants a bunch of direct downloads or games bought in different online stores.

Rather just have 1 library to manage.

But I would like to see Perfect Game as a free DLC that was optional to install but I guess that won't happen.

I hope the game stays combined as is. Sure there are patch issues though it's already stated, and not surprising to me, that this is due to being a new game and needing more tweaks. Also not surprising is this should come down to a more normal level as PT finds it's balance.

The reason to keep them together, IMHO, is they build on each other. If PT becomes HUGE (and I hope for Markus and co. it does) then it creates revenue for OOTP Dev. that benefits both games. Markus has stated in another thread they are developing a 3d park builder made possible by increased revenue from PT, that will be usable in both modes\games. It also introduces OOTP to users that may have never given it a chance.

If you split the games then each would have to stand on it's own. I don't beieve it but some fear PT with online gaming will be the end of OOTP as we know it. If PT does become HUGE and is separate doesn't it become easier to leave OOTP behind?

Be careful what you wish for .....

i no longer play PT ... various reason, all really unimportant. but having it as part of OOTP is fine. sure the stand-alone the updates are large and take time. that's why it's nice i can chose when to download and install them. only use Steam to test anymore. sort of wish the standalone game had those quick small updates - but such is life. as Markus said, PT is like the historical - just part of the game. i can chose which parts i want to use. pretty good idea me thinks. it's all good in the big picture of life.

If your downloads are taking too long maybe it's time to get with the 21st century and get off that dial up internet.

Even when I'm on my mobile hotspot the downloads dont take that long that I feel a need to complain about it
