Thank you for the cool-off time.
I'd never played Challenge Mode before PT, so I wasn't sure how much you can customize your Challenge Mode league to rake in achievements. The answer is, "a lot." Disabling commissioner mode and limiting some other options is a start, but the two biggest exploits I found were setting budgets for the inaugural draft and award voting. I gave every team a $40M budget, and gave myself $1B. Every team had like 2 actual major leaguers and a bunch of free scrubs at or below replacement level, and I had every star in the league. I swept the championship (gold), and my budget for the next season was still >$1B, even though my massive payroll was <$300M. My all-star team pretty much earned every award, but I disabled AI voting and manually awarded every single GG/ROY/CY/MVP (silvers) to my players. Achievements are a little too easy to come by in that universe. So, if Challenge Mode does award PT packs, a cool-off time is extremely necessary. In fact, it seems like PT packs should be as far divorced from Challenge Mode achievements as possible (and more tied to time played) so that someone playing as the Orioles in Challenge Mode for the, uh, challenge, isn't handicapping themselves in PT. Never played Challenge Mode myself - I'm strictly a front office nerd and don't like having to stop play every week. But if you play challenge mode in a fictional league, or in 1876 where there are very few teams I could see this becoming a quick way to farm packs. I think the cool off system is a great idea. It sounds like the rewards are more just for playing in challenge mode than for being an OOTP god in a solo league. Given that we've got a cool off system, is there any chance that this might eventually be a thing in regular solo play, too? |

Yes, I am sure it was Challenge Mode. I selected "Yes" when it asked if I wanted to play in Challenge Mode, I continued to see the Challenge Mode logo throughout the setup menus, and several options were disabled (like commissioner mode) or limited (like scouting accuracy). I changed the settings while I was setting up the league, so I couldn't tell you which of them are still available after league setup or during the season.

I believe bronze achievements have a pretty small chance of earning a pack, while silver and gold ones have higher odds. It's all random, though, so it could take a while. I got one at the end of my first season after a silver achievement. Good luck!!! |

When you set up a league with an inaugural fantasy draft, go into the draft screen. In the bottom-left corner of the draft screen, you have the option to set the budget that each team can spend on the draft. By default, the option is off, so first turn it on. Then, by default, each team has the same budget (I used the default financial settings, so that number was $160M). You can set each team's budget proportional to their cities' populations. You can also just type your own numbers in. That's how you give all your competition $3.50 and give yourself the GDP of a G20 country.

Has anyone popped the timeout bubble and gotten a second pack from challenge mode?

I think you are full of beans. Challenge mode has no commissioner mode. It has pre set rules that's why it's called challenge mode. But I could be wrong. |

You're reading his post wrong. He meant that there is no commissioner mode in challenge mode. But you can still do a lot. The easiest way to get a pack is pick the 1927 Yankees and don't do anything but sim the entire season. You should have a pack by the end of the first season.
