Hope you can climb in your division to stay within striking distance of a playoff spot.
We've got 4 teams in our division separated by 1.5 games vying for first. I think each of the four of us has been in first at one point or another. At least one of us won't make the playoffs.

This series with you is at my place. Your pitchers will love it.

I looked at players with 80+ Walks/season for Perfect leagues and
the number of players to achieve this are pretty short (and mostly outside my budget):
100 Trout, 100 Bonds, 100 Ted Williams, 100 Babe Ruth, 100 Mickey Mantle, 98 Joe Morgan, 86 Harper, 97 Jose Ramirez

On my team only the following players seem to be on track:
89 Edgar Martinez, 100 Trout, 95 Altuve, 100 Mookie Betts and 96 Vlad Jr

I fear getting lots of walks is an expensive trial. It may take a long term approach over multiple seasons and ongoing small improvements.
I really hope this works out.
The Phoenix are leading the league in walks, with 262, but this is the first season where we have not been among the league leaders in OBP. I hope to fix that going forward.

I looked at my guys and their history with walks:

Trout has managed 112+ walks in every season, going back to Bronze. He had 146 last year. He has a 75 (out of 80) eye.

Harper had 97 walks in my first (of two) diamond seasons, the only season in which he played full time for me. This year, he is well behind that pace. He has a 70 (out of 80) eye.

Cochrane (70 eye) is on track for 92 if he had 600 plate appearances, which he won't, of course, as a C.

Bautista (65 eye) is on track for 79 walks over 600 PA.

Nice. I am sure you will reach the top OBP spot by end of season.
Hope Edgar continues to produce at his pace.

You won our first 3 game series. The first game must have been drama filled with two blown saves (one for each of our teams) before you finally took the win.

I really hope you win your division so I don't have to face you early in the playoffs.
Next 3 game series on Saturday.

I'm just happy that (at least the last time I checked) my team has stabilized a bit at around 3 games under .500. Hoping to stick around in Perfect another year and make some improvements for Season 8

Hi Kris, Nice to find your team in this division too. This latest shuffle has really brought lots of new faces and teams.

It looks like your team is just 1/2 a game behind in the division and a bit more in the wild card. Good luck with your adjustments.

This is why OOTP tends to amaze again and again. Our other naturally grown(below .500) team made a recent SP improvement and suddenly the 4K-in-1-inning award pops up and the bullpen problem is resolved as well. Result: wildcard spot.

Any theme or specific targets for your team?

Hey Kris! Fun race in your division with three teams all within .5 from first even with a .500 record. All three teams have a similar +run differential and a pyth. record above .500 so I think it will be close down to the end,

Your offense is the best in the AC- just need the pitching to catch up. Hope Newhouser can break out of his funk.

The Space Cadet's had 6 pitching All-Stars. And that's before acquiring Walter Johnson to replace the "underperforming" 100 Randy Johnson in the rotation. Wow! One of the most impressive overall pitching groups I've seen in PT. Glad I'm done facing that in the regular season. ;-)

I'm holding down first place in my division with a 7.5 game lead. Still need to adjust a few things but off to a good first half.

How is Rocky Point doing?

I see Newhouser won his next 4 games since this post and dropped his ERA by .60. Trending the right direction!

Seeing you have success makes me feel better. I'm hoping this is the year. I have a 6 game lead in the division, and the best run differential in the league. So hopefully things will continue, and we can finish strong!

If the Friends List ever gets working, we might all end up in the same league again. It's always fun to compete with friends in the same league, but not always in the same division! lol

I hope it starts working soon. It's definitely fun in the same league, but I'm glad to get at least a year off with the division!

The Phoenix had a terrible July, 10-17, and fell from in or near the division lead to 7.5 games back and 3 games out of a WC.

Here is why this is especially frustrating: our run differential is significantly better than any team in our division. It's +108, as compared to +78, +72, and +47. But we are ten (10 !!!) games under our Pythagorean record. Our record in1-run games is an incredibly poor 10-25.

Perhaps August will be kinder to us.
