Wacky P410
This will be a unique week with only 22 teams!
Regardless, the Point Loma Indians are still standing our ground for the third straight week at the perfect level. If we get sent back to the minors after this week, it won't be for the lack of Albert Belle shenanigans. Welcome everybody else in P410! Good luck in this weird week

I am in this league. I am still trying to get my head around the league structure, but the point is the same regardless... win more games than anyone else. Good luck to everyone here and I hope to meet more of you soon.

I know there's a post from last week regarding the playoff structure, but I haven't been able to locate it yet. Probably buried on page 10 of some random thread.
Maybe Markus will inform us. |

I am going to be playing the Evansville Blackbirds in a 3-game series. The owner is Lotto. If you are reading this Lotto, please respond. I am from Evansville and I wonder if you live here too. Maybe not, my team is the Louisville Colonels and I don't live there. If you don't live in Evansville, I am curious about why you chose this city.

I'm about to fire myself as hitting coach and hire Lou Boudreau. How I'm 7-9 is anyone's guess lol

I am ready to fire my entire bullpen. I think I have been through every reliever in the game a couple of times now, and I can't find anyone that can reliably close out a game. I am beginning to see why every top team has starters in the bullpen.

Whenever I've asked the computer AI to set up my bullpen, they've always selected a starter to close despite me having closers in my pen. If that's what the game wants then it seems logical to use starters. I'm using a starter right now in Tiant. If he goes south, I'm putting in Feller.
Who are using right now? |

My current group is below, and believe me when I say that I have used a lot of others in the past couple of seasons. I have bought and sold without losing points so it was ok to experiment in my view, but maybe I could have been more patient. CL Dennis Eckersley (90) SU Doug Jones (90) SU Mark Eichhorn (88) MR Wilcy Moore (88) MR Willie Hernandez (86) LR Larry Dierker (83) I started looking at the stats for this group carefully to explain why I was so disgusted, and I figured out that they were pretty good after all. I was overreacting to a couple of blown saves in a row. I have the #3 bullpen in my conference, and Eckersley has been outstanding. I need to learn to be more patient, but that has been a problem for me since OOTP12. However, I am still considering that using starters might be better for PT. I thought initially that bullpen guys would give better performance in short stints for less money because I wasn't paying for extra pitches and stamina. I would have trouble affording a bullpen full of diamond starters, and I have to think my group would be better than a group of gold starters. So, in summary... never mind.

I was looking at your Wilcy Moore card and holy cow that movement rating is incredible! I agree your bullpen is solid though. Having Dierker in there should hopefully keep everyone rested too. I can't fault you if you go the starter in the bullpen route if things ever go south. I'm doing it mainly because there aren't enough Indians relievers available in the game yet. Well, other than Satchel Page and Doug Jones whom are a little too pricey for me at the moment.

I had terrible luck with Paige and sold him to buy Jones. I am pretty sure I like Jones better... today... maybe. I am unable to find any lefties that I like and/or can afford. John Hiller was horrible for me, and the splits on Hernandez don't really make him a lefty specialist. The diamond Billy Wagner is too expensive and the gold has weak ratings. I am considering trying a lefty starter or two in the bullpen. There are so many great LH hitters in the perfect leagues that I feel my lack of a good lefty is a real weakness. I tried Whitey Ford (89) there but he was not quite good enough to handle the perfect Ruth and Bonds cards that I saw last season. Maybe no one is. |

Wow, Holliston (absurddoctor) really has my number this season. I am 2-4 vs. them and I feel lucky to get the 2. Nice job on that team... you look like the team to beat in our conference to me.

Your league looks like it'll come down to you, Holliston, Denver, and Evansville.
My side is Chicago, Layton, Las Vegas, and Mudville. I'm first in my league in starter era and defensive efficiency, but much like yesterday, only Boudreau is hitting. Grrr. |

My team has lost 10 straight now, and I really can't see a big problem other than several of my left-handers (pitchers and hitters) are slumping. So, I think it will just reap the pity points and be thankful that I am still within sight of the division leader.
Of course, this game provides no incentive to win at the highest levels so I obviously am trying to tank so I can get away from all these whales that are beating me senseless.

10 in a row...yikes! I'm not sure I've ever lost 10 in a row. I've definitely lost like 8, won 1, and then lost 8 more. I'll try to go back and check if I have. Although I don't think those achievements carry-over season to season.
Just curious, do you have any other teams with all Cards? If so, what level? |

Lineup:
Frisch 2B McGee CF Musial LF Boyer 3B Slaughter RF Holliday DH Hernandez 1B Smith SS Molina C Rotation: C.Carpenter Mikolas C.Martinez Wainwright Flaherty (future legend) Bullpen: McDaniel L.Smith Sutter junk This is a free-to-play team so Carpenter is the only diamond. |
