Are My Guys Doing Hit And Run?

1973 historical players.

I have a team lacking power and stealing ability but with some high BA and high avoid K guys. Like 6 players 79 + on avoid Ks and several more with lower 55+ Ks but contact in the 70s and 80s. So based on available talent I decided to do a lot of hit and run.

Of the 15 core position players, I set 12 to H&R more than average, and probably 7 or 8 to the max setting. I also have everyone set to never steal, thus any SB and CS should be related to blown H&R attempts.

For the season I got 2 SB and 3 CS. I expected a lot more. Are they not really doing much H&R or are they really really successful? Is there any thing else I can look at to see if the strategy is being followed?

I set all my players individually and set them to ignore team strategy.

I set player strategy to use hit and run behind a high speed / steal ability runner (65+ on each.) It's set to H&R around the middle or a click higher. Also, in my lineups, most of my speed guys bat in sequence (e.g., 7-8-9-1-2) and are set to steal at a 1-2 clicks over average. Moving from LH to RH lineups doesn't change this strategy much and batters 8-9-1-2-3 will have H&R on. That way, I have a good chance of stealing if the batter can't make contact. I don't use H&R anywhere else although if I was playing (not simulating), I suppose there are other spots it would work.

Curious on a swing and miss on H&R does the runners steal or speed rating calculate the result at the base.

Anyway, I'd hate to have to watch 50 or 100 games to tell how much H&R is being attempted...
