What is the best Ichiro?

Which is the best Ichiro and why?

2001 Rookie Sensation
or
2004 Record Breaker
or
2007? All Star

and 2018 Live of course, but that's not it...

2001 slightly over 2004. The auction prices have dictated such as well.

Avg price 2001 -350

Avg price 2004-250 and going down.

When I got mine it was over 500.

I'm sure if you stuck the 2001 or 2004 versions in CF, he'd pick it up really quick anyway.

After half a season I got one of them up to the 60s in CF. He learns really fast, too.

I've gotten great results out of the 2004 Ichiro. Considering his value seems to be bottoming out, he seems to be the best one to go for as the best contact but the worst fielder and runner of the 3 (but still solid in both regards).

I am definitely considering this. Just need to find the right RF.

The 2004 card gets to a max of 63 in CF. I just replaced him with Trout and made him the backup roving OF, though I'm considering putting him back in RF and dumping Judge. Judge and Ichiro have been getting about the same WAR for me.

2007 for the improvement in defense and baserunning, with basically similar offense. 2007 and 2001 would really be the only ones worth putting in CF. All of 2004, 2007, 2011 are fine in LF or RF. 2018 Live isn't much good.

Strictly looking at the offense without considering defense, here are the results he's had in league I've been in...

2001 has had 4229 games played
.293/.314/.382/.696
RC/27: 4.12

2004 played in 4283 games
.306/.334/.375/.709
RC/27: 4.61

2007 played in 311 games
.300/.341/.376/.717
RC/27: 4.51

2018 played in 735 games
.265/.316/.346/.663
RC/27: 3.96

Is that amongst all the teams in your league Pion?

I've been using the 2001 Rookie who I've now put in CF as had to change my OF around to make room for a new option in LF.

I suppose the trade-off between 01 and 04 is the slightly better defense (01) for slightly better offense (04)? 07 looks more defensive than both but loses out a bit more offensively.

Yes, it is his combined stats from every team he has played on in 17 leagues.

2001 card gets at least 70 in CF. That's not quite 200 games started in CF, will probably top out at 75-78 in CF.

EDIT: actually tops out at 70 for 2001 card

How were you able to figure out what he maxes out to? If I can put my 2001 Ichiro in center and Record Breaker Johnny Frederick in right, assuming Frederick is good in right, I'll do so in a heartbeat.

One of my teams has the 2007 Ichiro. As of last night, we were almost halfway through the season he was hitting .196 and was getting thrown out stealing as many times as he was successful. I need to get him out of there. But I'm FTP and have other problems that need fixing. Oh wells.

My favorite Ichiro is the 1987 Tony Gwynn card

You can either search for the card in your league to find the max that he's gotten to or open up an offline game and match the ratings are probably the easiest ways to test it out. Obviously depends if someone else in your league has been playing him out of position, though.

From personal experience, I've gotten the 2004 Ichiro up to a 72 in LF in less than half a season, so he should be able to make it even higher. 2001 Ichiro just hit 70 in CF for another team, which might be his max since he's up to almost 190 games played there.
