Charlo Bouts (Spoilers)

Woefully wrong decision each time. So frustrating to see travesties like this. I kinda felt there was no way the Russian would get a decision even before the fight started because ... that's how it works. Sigh.

The guys calling the fights seemed to think the Jermall decision was correct but Jermell's result was incorrect.

But then when Keith Thurman was interviewed, he agreed with the judges that Tony won that fight.

No way Harrison won that fight. I had it 116-112 for Charlo

Just saw a fightnews.com poll & it's 54.7 to 45.3 in favor of Jermell winning that fight. I'm surprised it's not more of a blowout for him winning.

I had Charlo 115-113 in the first fight and Charlo 117-111 in the second. I'm not a fan of the Charlo's but I thought they won.

Surprised by this, I figured he was about to go on another angry rant about how bad judges are ruining the sport:

Veteran trainer and Hall of Famer Teddy Atlas is supporting last Saturday's controversial twelve round decision, which saw Tony Harrison dethrone World Boxing Council super welterweight world champion Jermell Charlo.

Atlas agrees. He felt Harrison controlled the fight and landed the cleaner punches in the contest.

"Over the years I've used my podium at ESPN to knock the crap out of judges for being either incompetent or corrupt.... for chasing you guys away with bad decisions in a sport that you guys love and I love," Atlas said.

"I think I need to be consistent, I think I need to do the right thing right here. I need to go to the defense I think, of the judges who said that Tony Harrison beat Charlo the other night. I know it's not going to be favorable and its not going to be popular, but I think its the right thing, at least in my estimation, just like it was when I knocking them in the past for getting it wrong.

"[But] they got it right. What is the criteria for boxing? I know it's subjective, but what is it supposed to be... who lands the cleaner punches. It's not just about who's aggressive, its about who lands the cleaner punches, who controls the fight. Turn the sound off, look at it, and if they are right give them credit for being right."

I had it slightly for the first Charlo, but I wouldn't call it a robbery. I think the counter-puncher types who don't have power have it rough with today's judging. Many of the newer judges come from an amateur system that awarded ineffective volume punching over what Atlas described. Everybody wants a Rocky fight.

Yes, good points here. I saw on Twitter guys like J Rock & Crawford seemed to favor Tony too.

That's what I like about boxing, hopefully we can have a rematch in 3-4 months.
