Why are roster additions allowed during playoffs?

I'm in the league championship series and have a big pitching advantage until right before game 1, my opponent goes and gets a new ace SP, who proceeds to shut me down in game 1 (and I get to look forward to facing him again 1 or 2 more times). Why is this allowed when this guy hasn't been on the team all year, or even the first round of the playoffs? Doesn't seem right. Would be nice to have a post-season eligibility deadline like in real life.

There's another thread where this is discussed more in depth. Short version is that it will stay the way it is. It was said that if you were lucky enough to draw a perfect Mike Trout, it would be hard not to be able to use them. Everyone is on a level playing field in that everyone can add if they want to, have the resources, or get lucky on a pack.

It does seem a little unfair. I can see the drawing a Mike Trout argument, but still, you'll have him for the upcoming season. Skewing the playoff balance after they've started to me seems wrong. I'd rather this change be made, but hey that's just one guy's vote.

Since when is PT like real life? Let me enumerate quickly what there is not in PT besides a postseason eligibility check while I try to hang onto my coffee for strength at 6:30 in the morning...!

- Injuries
- Trades
- Rule 4 draft
- Rule 5 draft
- Retirements
- Players abruptly retiring to become missionaries in the Congo

You are just one of the many folks who cherry-picks the one thing that screwed him over. Next time go out and get reinforcements before the playoffs yourself instead.

This has been discussed before. It is a design decision we fully support Closed.
