For the second day in a row, a Blue Jays got a home run in his first big league plate appearance. Today it was Chris James. Erik Heath had to settle for an RBI double in his first plate appearance.

Ryne Sandberg also homered in a losing effort as the Jays fell 11-6 to the Angels.

Nolan Ryan left the game with some bicep pain. I looks like they will shut him down for a couple of weeks to make sure he is good for the post-season.

Scott Sargent also left the game with a sore heel but only needs a few days rest.

WP - Eric Show (1-1)
LP - Karl Cowell (9-1)

Record - 101-31

Walt Terrell pitched into the 9th in an 8-2 win over the Orioles. Along the way he picked off three runners on 1st. That is pretty impressive.

Eiichi Hasegawa left the game after legging out a three-run triple. The team will probably let him rest for a bit to make sure he is ready for the post season.

The Jays got homers from Carney Lansford and Erik Heath.

WP - Walt Terrell (2-0)
LP - Steve Senteney (1-2)

Record - 107-37

With that win, the Blue Jays have clinched the AL East, with 18 games still to play. To match last year's record they would need to go 15-3 the rest of the way. Possible, but tough considering they are not at peak strength.

This is the 5th straight year the Blue Jays have made the playoffs. Now they are going to try for their 3rd straight World Series Championship.
