Three diamonds in four or five or six packs. And I wonder why nobody loves me.

I thought replacing my Jedd Gyorko who had a 20 OPS+ with a Bryce Harper at DH would improve my team. Well Harper has a 79 OPS+ and is slugging .326.
My team is hopeless right now and I can't tell if it's because of my insane competition in the division or because it just stinks. I'm kind of lost. Even my Aaron Judge only has a 97 OPS+. My Joey Votto who is in a strict platoon with Steve Pearce only has a 85 OPS+. Pearce has a 99, only facing lefties. Guess (I hope) this is because they're all facing diamond pitchers in most games. Team now sits at 49-71. |

By the way, I jinxed it. They lost the very next game, to the worst team in the league.
They actually got swept by that team. ![]()

I'm not sure if this has been addressed elsewhere, but why is the season length longer than 162 games?

Besides our defensive mediocrity, we're doing pretty well.
![]() But we're not going to make the playoffs even as a wildcard.

My team is doing pretty darn well... after going 20-3 so far in August, I've pretty much got the division in hand. I know I'm the beneficiary of a weaker league overall, but I definitely feel pretty good about it still.

In beta Larry Jansen sucked. So I get him again. He won his first game, so far so good, then the bottom falls out and he is 2-8 the first part of June.
I go to work and come back and he is on fire, 5-0 in August. And a personal 8 game winning streak and the Denver Bears are 64-68.

Well, my team is now 40 GB and yet we're tied for the #2 WC spot due to most teams being weak. The last 7 games we played Durham, we won 3 and lost 4, so who knows, we could upset someone in the playoffs. Would be funny if we knocked off the best team. [Durham has the best record and 1 team from the other conference is 3.5 games behind Durham]

The big surprise for my team so far is Dennis Martinez. He's a 72 OVR SP and he's won 20 Gs (behind only deGrom and Walter Johnson) and he's got 22 QS, 1 behind the leader and tied with Walter Johnson (a 96 OVR). The bullpen and defense are the strong suits of the team. I added Bill Terry at the beginning of August and he's been a big help for the offense and didn't hurt the defense any since my first baseman was the only weak defender anyhow. Except for that poor showing in June, the team has played decently and I've got enough PP recently to upgrade a little for the final month so it will be interesting at least.

After a real slow start, we seem to have things under control
Roger Clemens came back from an 0-7/5.80 start to 10-9/3.90 before losing his last two starts.

August was a good month. 16-9 for the month, and sitting at 72-62 for the year. Currently in the lead for the 2nd wildcard spot, but it is a close race at the moment. 4 out of 5 starting pitchers are currently on hot streaks, so hopefully they keep it up for the rest of the month.

69-66 after going 15-11 in August. Tied for the second wildcard spot. Really didn't expect to be playing .500 ball this season.
Added Mike Witt late in the month in an attempt to strengthen my rotation.

But since we have the Alboran Wolf in the same league it probably is too early to print World Series tickets
