Game crashes every January 1st
I know this has something to do with the file size of the league because it is large and I am running a long 100+ year simulation. The problem only started happening about 75 years in. I just want to find out if there is something I can do about it...reallocate memory or increase some cache size (don't know what I'm talking about).

There are a few things you can do that might help.
As you alluded to, ultimately this is a system resource issue, in any league if you sim/play forever you will eventually reach a point where any league gets unplayable. How long that takes depends on how big the league is/gets and how many resources your computer has. There are a few things that will help the league last longer though. The main one is to delete any teams/leagues you don't really need in the universe. If you have more free agents than you need, manually retire a bunch of them. If you've done that, or deleted a lot of teams/leagues in the past, running the purge tool can help get the file size down a bit. Be careful with that though, as it's pretty powerful/dangerous. https://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com...age=purge_tool Another thing to look at are the box scores/game logs and similar options. Turning them all on vs having them all off can easily double the sim time or more, so you might want to review which options are selected, and that they match up with the options that make the most sense. If you never look at game logs, it likely makes sense to turn them off. Also, always a good idea to be sure to regularly defrag/error check the disk you keep OOTP on, to ensure it's optimized and as speedy as possible.

Thanks, I have tried to check/uncheck most settings as I need them. Oddly the messages folder was huge even though I unchecked all the options. Is there another setting for that? My inbox is empty but the folder had something like 400,000 files in it.
Also, the retired players data is huge as I have been saving all of it (including those who never made it to the majors) but I feel like I still want to keep it. Does it completely erase the player or only the stats/development data? Last edited by stealofhome; 11-28-2018 at 09:15 AM. |

I had the same problem on 3 July 1941 when I reloaded my game after saving. Retired about 4000 useless .5 star free agents and it has recovered the game.
