No, the way it works now is the only viable option, and frankly I prefer the option to be able to improve my team right before a playoff series.

the more money people spend the better...

I like this chance too.Everybody has the same opportunity; nobody is left out except by their own choosing. I also like to save some PP from achievements toward the end of the season to put with any playoff PP I may get to help with that last little tweak before the playoffs.

That's not really the point here though. It's just a design decision pure and simple. How much PP people buy has nothing to do with why we're doing it this way actually.

On the contrary, in fact. If we were trying to get people to spend money to upgrade before the playoffs, we wouldn't be giving the season end points to them for free before the playoffs, we'd wait till after so that if they wanted to upgrade, they'd have to spend.

Folks can agree or disagree with the design decisions we make, but it can get a little tiring for people to always assume everything we do in PT is about maximizing revenue

It's not, any more than everything we do in the main game is about selling more copies. A lot of what we do is just for purposes of making things more fun and making play better. You might disagree with us as to whether any one decision does that or not, but that's always going to be the case. Everyone seems things a bit differently. We'll never get everyone to agree 100% on almost any decision we make in PT or in regular OOTP.

Not sure if I agree, but at least provides rewards after the post season. Don't give a team 7,000 coins to spend during the playoffs (which was the original question). Coin rewards should be cutoff from Saturday to the end of the World Series. Make it seem a little more like baseball?

Paying out 7k in achievements before the playoffs would be incredibly rare, too. By default, I think the only payouts we would have there would be 1k for making the playoffs, plus small payoffs for batting champion/HR champion/ERA leader/wins leader or a larger payout if you won a triple crown.

So the average team is only getting about 1k, maybe a little more if you have a batting champion too. You're not raking 7k in unless if you have some triple crown winners on your team.

I played in other online leagues that were against signing players before the WS was over.

So is it too difficult to postpone rewards during the final month of the season and the playoffs? Just asking if this is even reasonably possible?

That is too bad, I thought the solution might be simpler, like having a deadline where the active roster would be locked, and after that time, those are the players you go into the playoffs with.
