Should season ending PP be awarded after playoffs?

Wondering what everyone thinks about this...

In one of my leagues I made the playoffs and won 110 games then received over 7000 PP for the season achievements .

Shouldn't these points be awarded after the playoffs?

No Maybe you need the PP to reinforce your roster for the playoffs.

I agree. This is a reward for making the play-offs, so you should receive it right after the regular season ends.

I kind of agree with Scoman. Feels a little cheap to (possibly) radically change your team for the playoffs. Of course, that's exactly what happens in MLB near the trade deadline.

Oh, well.

I agree too, seems like playoff rosters should be locked, especially with no injuries. It does feel pretty cheap that you can improve your roster after the season and before the playoffs.

I'd hate to lose a one-game Wild Card because my opponent went out and bought a perfect Chris Sale. The MLB trade deadline is one thing, but players do have to be on the roster by a certain date to be eligible.

I agree with this. You should not be able to upgrade your team during the playoffs. In fact there should be no updates after September 1st.

You cannot change your team mid series. That should be enough. It is like bringing your ace off the DL after the post season starts and start him in the next series. you see it all the time.

Except it's not really like that. It's like finishing the season then going out and buying a new ace that hasn't been with your team all year. There is no parallel to MLB.

After thinking about this, I guess it has to be this way because people can spend money on PP before the playoffs so I guess it makes sense.

Oh by the way I bought 7 1000 packs ..highest card was a 71..should have bought a 5000 pack and 2 1000 packs in hindsight.

IMO the player must have been on either your active or reserve roster on Saturday morning at 10AM Eastern time (September 1 games) to be eligible for the playoffs. You can buy players after that and use them for the stretch drive but they are inactive for the playoffs.

I would agree, and it would also keep the integrity of the league intact imo.

In theory you could have a complete different team in the playoffs than the regular season, which kind of cheapens the regular season Imo

Nah, bad idea. Dance with the one(s) that brung ya.

A team in my league went out and bought a bunch of superstars on Saturday (lots of diamonds today with very few games played). Rolled through the last couple weeks of the regular season, barely made the playoffs, now rolling over the opposition.

But I guess this is a way of getting a nice bump in PP sales on the weekends.

There is no DL with this game. You shouldn't be able to buy players before the playoffs. I was able to upgrade my 1b for the playoffs and that should not be allowed. The auction house should be closed during the playoffs or before.

Sorry, but this is the part that ruins this game. It's almost like cheating. You built your team for the playoffs, you should not be allowed upgrades beforehand.

I kind of did that, got a Kenta Maeda in a pack just after the playoff PP was awarded, he's my best SP, so set him to start the wildcard, he won it, we then swept the league leading team (3-0) who had about 16-20 wins more than us in the regular season, then won the next series 4-1.. Maeda 4-0 in the playoffs so far...

Even from my side it does feel a little strange to be able to do this.

This definitely sounds like the best way to do it. Upgrading your team is fine, but there should be a deadline for it. Players bought after the deadline go on the reserve roster, and be ineligible for the postseason roster like in MLB.

This will be an issue for new teams, but I feel like this will mostly correct itself as all teams mature.

That being said, in season 2, I got lucky with good deals on significant upgrades at 3 positions just before the playoffs. I was a wildcard team, but got hot at the right time and won it all... with all 3 upgrades on my reserve roster waiting for the next year.

So naturally, I missed the playoffs with those upgrades... :-D

I think season achievement awards should be given after the season is over to use for helping your team next season.

Such limitations are very difficult and have the potential to screw up rosters. Such limits would need to be enforced once the playoffs start, essentially having the AI set up the team / removing uneligible players automatically.

No, the way it works now is the only viable option, and frankly I prefer the option to be able to improve my team right before a playoff series.
