Players not stealing, and can't shop players around
I'm having a couple of issues recently that I've never had before. The one that affects me most is is that I can't shop players around anymore. When I go to shop them around I get the message "No team offers a single player in trade!" This is happening with every single player I've tried in the last week or so. I'm in the year 2021 of a modern-day sim, and in earlier seasons, it was working fine. Now I get that message for every player regardless of the time of year or player quality and I'm not sure why.
The other issue I've had is not as big a deal because I usually don't manage games. When I do manage them, however, if I try to steal, the runner always turns around and goes back after I send him. I can't say for sure that it happens every single time, because my sample size isn't large enough but in the few games I've managed recently, I'd say I tried to steal 5 times or more and every time the runner went back to first base, even if they had really good speed and probably would make it more often than not. Any one have any ideas on this? |

Not sure on the shopping players, would probably need to see your league files for that.
The not stealing is just he game working as intended. Unless you use force steal, the players will use their own judgement as to when to go and when not to go and sometimes they just won't be able to get a good jump on the pitcher and won't go. All depends on their speed and steal ratings, the pitchers hold rating and a bit of randomness.

The shop player could be related to financials - if you have no money available, then the AI teams may not be able to match financials properly. There could be other reasons, but I find most of the time, that's the likely cause.
As for stealing, as Lukas said it's correct. Especially with modern settings, even a guy like Dee Gordon only tries to steal a base ~1/3 of the time or so he's on 1B, so it could be you just ran into a bad string of chances. Maybe he's just a little jittery this week and doesn't want to chance it ![]() |
