i've found that early in the process, they turn down anything that doesn't meet their demands. (And sometimes even turn that down waiting for a better offer.) But as time winds down, and the pool gets thinner, sometimes (not often) they will take less than their original demand. problem with waiting, is if you need a SS, there may not be a good one left later on.

Maybe just like other free agents, they prefer one team/city/region over another? Why play in Colorado when you can play in Florida.

Well, Aspen is sort of a different world. Not really Colorado, not really part of any known reality.
Great art museum, gorgeous setting, kind of fun to visit every now and then. But also very cut off from the reality of most people in the world. One very much gets the feeling when in Aspen that a good percentage of the people you come in contact with there spend much of their life jetting from one privileged place to another without a great deal of experience with how the 99% live. That can be fascinating to observe occasionally, even if also pretty annoying. Still, that drive over Independence Pass (if, like me, you choose to approach Aspen from that direction) is enough to tell you that Colorado is one of the nearest spots to heaven on earth. |
