Could not save sqlite database file
Can anyone help with this error? I did recently back up the database and upgraded to 19.8.79 in the offseason after 2071, but I have played 8 game-months and auto-saved each month. Last successful saved game is from June 2072.
Thanks |

Typically this happens if the game's data folder is installed to a path with a non ASCII character in it.
The way to fix that is to set a custom data directory to a path without that non ASCII character (C:\OOTP19 for instance). It's also possible to get that error in some instances if the save is corrupt. In which case, restoring from the autosave is your best bet. 1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings (or Preferences in OOTP 11-14). 2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting". 3) Click "Open folder containing saved games". 4) Now open up the league folder you're wanting to restore. 5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them 6) Open the folder called "auto-save". 7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder. 8) Now start the game and load your league.

Thanks for the help, Lukas.
Unfortunately, I think I had two problems. I forgot to mention I also got this error in conjunction with the original one (see attachment) I did what you said, and the entire path is ASCII characters. This problem remains, despite deleting everything in "auto-save" and trying again. Last edited by Critical Mass; 10-29-2018 at 10:15 PM. |

Ok, this was probably something I did. Let me walk you through what I did, step by step:
Everything was fine. Decided at the end of the season to upgrade to the new version. -Backed up league -Installed new version, but installed it to a new folder (OOTP19NV), with NV being New Version -opened OOTP -Restored from backup and created new league called "Oct26" -Simmed until June. Auto-saved each month. -Quit game. Thought everything saved ok. -played game next day. Simmed until end of season. -Tried to quit game. Got error. Deleted autosave files like I was instructed. -re-opened game and loaded save, which is still stuck on June 6. |

Thanks, but I simply just re-installed it to the Default location and it's now working. I don't know what the problem was, but so be it.

Ok, cool! I guess the problem might've been that the game was looking for a non-existent data folder for some reason. Really glad you got it working in any case!
