The Longer I Play the More I Love OOTP

All the discussion about improvements to the game-engine, possible new options, overhauls, etc., etc., all of it's great.

But occasionally it's good to stop and ask yourself - how much fun are you having playing OOTP5 right now just the way it is? I've played the game for 3 months now. I love it even more today than when I first got it.

How many other computer games could you say that about? Not many; probably none. Every other game I ever played, baseball or otherwise, got less and less fun to play the more I played it.

OOTP5 is exactly the opposite. The longer I play it the more I love it. I'm more intriguted than ever by its challenges, its details, and by how much I care about the game and my players.

I'm not saying we shouldn't discuss changes and possible improvements. We should. I love the fact that Markus listens to this community and wants our input. But I for one want to stop for a moment and say that I've never been as happy with a game as I am with OOTP5. So thanks, Markus. You should be proud.

I bet almost everyone else here agrees, right?

I'm the same. I play Championship Manager, Eastside Hockey Manager, Unreal tourney 2k3, Vice City, half-life - but I always play OOTP no matter what. The other games come and go through the months but OOTP is always there.

Although saying that, I haven't been playing for a while. But I'm back into it again - even excited about taking over my team that I left in a state after some terrible trades.

Ever since I bought OOTP4 (and then OOTP5 the day it came out) my gaming time has been something like this:

OOTP 90%
Everything Else 10%

It's addictive, I swear. And the sad thing is I very rarely even get a league beyond ten years, I just keep making new ones and deleting old ones that have lost my interest.

I have yet to play another game since I got OOTP5. I did however recently purchase MVP baseball. It may just collect dust. I am an OOTP addict! Come to think of it, this is like a support group for OOTP addicts.

I bought Madden 2004 for my PC a month ago, and I've played it once. All my gaming's been OOTP5 since I bought it as soon as it came out. Well....until last week, when I rediscovered Duke Nukem 3D.

My PC gaming pretty much consists of OOTP and TDCB. I find a little time for Madden and NCAA on the PS2 but OOTP is far and away my most played game.

OOTP5 and Warcraft 3 is about it for me. I play Warcraft 3 online with friends the vast majority of the time I play that game rather than solo offline. I bought Madden 2003 when it came out, but didn't even finish the first season so I never even bothered with Madden 2004.

I would say I'm about OOTP 80 % TDCB and one of the FOF series games 15 %.....RPG's and Shooters the remaining 5 %....

Its funny....I've always had a love for sports games...but before OOTP I played a wide variety of games....I remember I was deeply immersed in Baldurs Gate the week I bought OOTP 3....I was I think in Chapter 5....since then....I've reached the beginning of the last chapter....I have bought the sequel to BG,,,but have yet to install it....

I bought Republic: The Revolution when it came only played it for a little while. Once I got back onto OOTP Ihaven't thought about it...but that could be because it's ***

I reckon Half Life 2 and Doom III will take me away from OOTP for longer gaps but not much more.

Yeah, just as I thought. OOTP definitely ruins the appetite for any other games.

Last fall and winter I played Madden 2003 constantly after having played HH2003 all spring and summer.

But after playing OOTP5 this year I still haven't gotten around to buying Madden 2004. I can't stop playing OOTP5 long enough to go pick it up. I'm now thinking I may not purchase Madden 2004 at all. After all, what's the point? I'm addicted to OOTP5!

I'm a seasonal player. In the summer I exclusively play OOTP. I ended baseball ops two weeks ago and now am playing a dynasty on the FOF College Years. I'll get bored with that in a few weeks and either start a new dynasty there, go to FOF itself, or get back into CIV III until spring training starts in Feb.

As much as I play OOTP... I have trouble devoting as much time (solo-play at least) as the rest of you. I have to get a game of CM4, TDCB, Tropico, Tropico 2, Star Wars:Galaxies, FOF, Freedom Force, Combat Mission, or Ghost Master occasionally.

I haven't played Civ III nearly as much as I did Civ II.
